All government licenses expire April 30, and the new year, under the old law begins May 1. When the tobacco licenses expire with theliOih of this month, the old L. S. law will go out of existense, and no licenso will thereafter be required to sell the uianufactered weed. No bond will be required either from stationary dealers, but peddlers will be required to give a sufficient bond in guarantee that they will sell goods from unbroken original package*. The liquor dealers who obtain government licenses May 1 will find that they are good but for two months. This is because the government fiscal year begins July J, and it is the purpose to make the tax year exactly correspond with it. By lssueing two months' licenses on May 1 dealers will be required to take out new ones July 1. They will be good for twelve mouths, and the fiscal and tax year will thereafter be the same.

THE OLD CUOCK IN THE CORNER.
Of thcmornol life—lonj yenrs ago— e've memories sweet and tender. In days when youthful hopes were bright,
And means were small and slomler hen summer heat and winter's cold Were met and passed by lightly, When friendships dear brought welcome
Wlien evening lamps shone brightly When at the fading hours each day The old clock in the corner ticked away—
When the old clock ticked in the corner.
The present is ours, with health and friends. With blessings new each morninK. With bri ad and meat each day to eat,
And for comfort aud adorning, Apparel to wer.r. enough and to spare. In cold or sultry weather. And whether it snows, or rains, or blows,
What mutters when we gather Where lamps fresh trimmed burn clear and brik'ht. While the pendulum swings to left and right—
And the old clock ticks iu the corner.
Then let us forward look with faith In planning future duties Lei's seek out pleasant walks and ways,
New life, new loves, new beauties
1
Fill heart and soul wiih noble thought, •Swell voice with joyous chorus, W nlking ahead with steady step,
Along the way before us Then, now aud hence, going hand-ln-hand v. While the clock ticks oil Time's hour-glass sand—
