Scores o£ lives are saved every year by its timely use.
Amanda B. Jenner, Northampton, Mass., writes Common grntitudo im* pels me to acknowledge tho great benelits I liave derived for my children from the use of Ayer's most excellent Cherry Pectoral. I had lost two dear children from croup and consumption, and had the greatest fear of losing my only remaining daughter and son,.aJ they were delicate. Happily, I fine* „.iut by giving them Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, on the first -symptoms of throat or lung trouble, tbey nro relieved from danger, and are be' doming robust, healthy children." "In the winter of 18S5 I took a bad cold which, in spite of every known remedy, grow worse, so that the family physician considered me incurable, supposing me to be in consumption. As a iast resort I tried Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, and, in a short time, the cure was complete. Since then I have never been without this medicine. I am fifty years of age, weigh over 180 pounds, and attribute my good health to the use of
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral."—G.W.Youker, Salem, N. J. "Last winter I contracted a severa cold, which by repeated exposure, became quite obstinate. I was much troubled with hoarseness and bronchial irritation. After trying various medicines, without relief, I at last purchased a bottle of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. On taking this medicine, my cough ceased almost immediately, and I have been well ever since."—Kev. Tlios. B.

THE ORAWFORDSVILLE WEEKLY REVIEW.
After Their Money.
The question of the fees of the counsel for Pettit came up before the Board of County Commissioners Friday afteruoou. It should be remembered that Judge Snyder appointed Kumler & Gaylord, Col. R. P. DeHart, and Thos. F. Davidson,-of Crawfordsville, attorneys to defeuil Pettit, under the statute which pro* vides that the county shall provide counsel to defend a criminal who is unable to employ counsel for himself—a duty which very commonly devolved upon the County Attorney. At the close ot the Pettlt trial, the question compensation for these attorneys—(which under the law, will be a charge against this couny, along with the compensation for the State's attorneys and assistants, and all the expenses of trial at Crawfordsville, for jurors, bailiffs and iniscejlatieous court expenses)— oaine up and Judge Snyder offered to make an allowance of $ 1,800 for defending Pettit, to bo di vided among the several firms participating, indicating that he considered this figure ample. Tiie attorneys demurred, and wanted more, whereupon Judge Snyder reminded tliem that it was their privilege to have him pass over the matter of their compensation altogether, and present their bills to the Roard of Commissioners of this county Tor payment.
There the matter was suffered to rest, the attorneys taking time to deliberate as to whether tliey would accept the allowance of $1,800 or elect the other course. The Sunday Times has quoted them as claiming $10,000. Yesterday Messrs. Kumier & Gaylord, and A. 0. Behm, representing the first named firm, De Hart and Davidson, Judge Snyder's three appointees on the Pettit defense, appeared before our county board with reference to this matter. In sub siance and effect, their mission was to elicit an expression of opinion of the Board on the subject, and especially as te whether the Board would bo disposed to allow them $3,600 in settlement of their claim, if they should make such au offer. The^ Board said they would much pre'er that Judge Snyder should make the allowance that he had employed them and furthermore, the case being tried before him, and he being a lawer, lie would perhaps be likely to bave a more correct idea of what these services were worth than they could
I.ossibly have. The attorneys were free, however, to pursue any course they saw lit,N ami if, after considering the matter fully, they de cided not to permit Judge Snyder to fix their compensation, but, instead, to file their bill with this Board their claim should receive fair and due consideration but the board did not regard it as proper or becoming for thorn to give any expression of their opinion, or ititr mation as to what their probable aetion in the premises would be, in advance or the matter being breught before them in the regula course of business. There the matter rests for the present—Lafayette Call.
"Lucky'1 Not In Luck.
"Lucky" Baldwin lost a fine racing horse, Sinaloa, in New York on Saturday last, that was valued at $15,000. Sinaloa II. was tbree-year-old filly by Grinstead, out of Maggie Emerson, the dam of Lucky B., and worth in a low valuation $15,000. During the season just closed Sinaloa ran in eleven races, of which she won seven. At the Westchester June meeting she won the LadieB' stake?, worth $7,720, over eight others, On August 5, at Saratoga, she landed tho rich Alabama stakes, worth $3,750, over six others. Aug. 28 ebe was in great form and won cleverly the valuable Jersey handicap, worth $5,765, Sinaloa also won the United States Hotel stakes at Saratoga, worth $1,270. On Sept. 25 she won the Oeean View stakes, beating Demutti and three others and adding $2,025 to her winnings. On Oct. 2 at Morris Park, Sinalpa won the rioh Hunter stakes, beating four others, and closing the season with a total won of about $27,000.
The Brown'* Valley Hog Case.
Lasl Friday night the jury In |he case of Wasson vs. Wasson, for killing a bog, returned a verdict against the defendant for $3 and cost. This is the third trial and makes the defendant, Joseph Wasson, liable to costs amounting to nearly $300. The case will be appealed to tbe Supreme Court. The origination of the trouble has been published in these columns and nearly every person in this coun.ty are acquainted with the facts. Shelby and Joseph Wasson are brothers living on adjoining farms in Brown township. Shelby's hog was found in Joe's corn field one day, and, the plaintiff olaims that Joseph hit his bogsbip with a clnb and thereby inflicting a woand from which the hog died. On the other hand the defense olaims that the swine died from the effect of a knife wound inflicted by a bog doctor in Brown's Valley and not from the club in his bands. At all events the lawyers are sura that hog meat Is worth more in coirt than in the ordinary market and are working it for ali it is worth.

Allay of Hope
For all who are held by the chains of scrofula or other distuses of the blood comes from Hood's Sarsaparilla, which by imparting the elements of good health and strength to tbe ital fluids, dissolves the bonds of disease and sets the captive free. No other remedy in existence combines th»' positive economy, the peculiar merit and the inedlciual power of Hood's Sarsaparilla.
That I.ittle Tickling
lu your throat, which makes you cough onee awhile and keeps you constantly clearing your throat, arises from catarrh, and as catarrh is a constitutional disease the ordinary cough medicines all fail to hit the spot. What you need is a constitutional remedy like Hood's Sareapaiilla. Many people who have taken this medicine for scrofula, dyspopsia, loss of appetite, and other troubles, have been surprised that it should cure this troublesome cough. But to know the actual cause of the cough is to solve the inistery. Many cases o' consumption can be traced back to the neglect of some such slight affection as this. Consumption can be controlled in its early stages, and tbe effect ot Hood's Sarsaparilla in purifying tho blood, building up the general health, and expelling the scrofulous taint which is the eaase of catarrh and consumption, has restored to perfect health many persons on whom this dreaded disease seemed to have a firm hold.
