The farmers are making war on the hunters and trespassers. They claim that they raise the birds, rabbits and games of all kinds and a lot of town fellows come out, kill them, take them to town and sell them, and scare people's stock and tear down their fences. So we predict the next grand jury will have a picnic with the violators of the law. Wheu they stick up a notice on their farm they mean business.
There is something very peculiar in the minds of the republican board of commissioners right ou the face of its own party who said at the last election 1,000 people had no further use for James M, Waugb, they in all due respect to their G. O. P. put him in as superintendent of the construction of the county line free gravel road. Of course they received a good many votes from the bands of the democratic party in this part of the county, but the time has passed fur the pasture business also for trying to undermind a poor man for the office of Trustee in Sugar creek township. The peo. pie are getting tired of this republican dommioneering and swear by all that is good and bad that they owe a debt of gratitude to some of the members of the old board. They hope to be spared long enough to pay it at the ballot box. The people do not seem to bo in love with the Waugh faction whatever.

A PATENT FENCfi.
Samuel H. Gregg, of tliiB city, has recently received letters patent on a new wire fence. The object of the fence is to overcome all the objectionable features of the common barbed wire fence, and at the same time make it bettei and at a smaller cost. The new fence is made from flattened crimped wire. The object of the crimp is to prevent the wire from snapping in cold weather and slagging during the heated term the crimps relaxing and contracting during the different season without loosening or breaking the posts. The posts in the new fences are of heavy iron and steel and made in a "U" shape. This post is fastened to an iron base sunk from eighteen inches to three foot in the ground, thereby being very strong and durable. Instead of using posts every 20 to 50 feet as is the case in common barbed wire, they are only used every 60 or 75 feet. Between these posts the wires are stayed by a heavy wire encircling each strand. To this fastener is attached a small wedge shaped iron post which is inserted in the ground. We liavn't room to mention the many virtues of this new fence but we prophecy that it will fee only a matter of a short time until it will entirely supplant the barbed wire fence, or stock mutilator.
