WHAT IS IT?

Person outside or, the profession often ask. what Is an Emulsion? We answer,an Emulsion Is acointonation of two or more llqnfcfi.'so tooronghly mixed that each Is held In permanent suspension. Several ot the much advertised 'Emulsions' now on the market are nothing more than compounds, and a microscopic examination will reveal globules of oil In their original form. The Emulsiom made by Mtms. J. A. Uaaet £Co.,Laurente, Mam., everywhere so favorably known by physicians as

lyiagee's Emulsion

Is cotaposed ot one-third part Cod-Liver Oil, onetljlrd part Extract of Malt, and one-third part Compound Syrup of Hypoposphttes of Lime and Soda, each of which must be of the finest quality obtalnable. Wjese three valuable Ingredients, with a little flavor! ne^xtract, are pnt lntq a 'Mixer,' where Itis eftiulslflea for six hours by steam power, at the rate of 128 revolutions per mlnate, which breaks every globule of the oil, and combines It with the other •gradients In such a thorough manner that no separation will ever occur. Hagee's Emulsion has no eooal for the relief and cure of Coughs,Colds, Scrofula. Dystiepsla and General Debility.

BLOWN TO ATOMS.

Terrauc Explosion of Dynamite In Quarry ait Lima, O.—Three Men Killed. LIMA, 0., Nov. 15.—At 7.80 Friday morning a terrific explosion of dyna mite took place at Custer stone quarry in the southwestern edge of the city. Three men were blown to atoms and four were injured. The concussion shook every building in' the cit.y and broke the window-^lass in the houses located near. The shock was felt for ten miles around.

Two men were at work 5n the powder house, a small shanty on the edge o? the pit. proparing a charge, and it is supposed were heating the dynamitt when it let go. The third man, Archie Burket, was just going into the building. George Fisher and Henry Wisekopf were the men preparing the blast. Fisher was burled in the air fifty feet. His arms and legs were blown oil and all that was left was the blackened trunk. \Visekopf was blown 200 feet clear over the quarry to the east side. His head was torn from his b^dy and was not found until Friday afternoon, when it was discovered in a field with hogs rooting it around. Ilis clothes were all torn olT and his arms and legs were missing. Burket's body was the least mutilated of the three, but his arms and ono leg were torn away. He was from Decatur, Ind.

Jacob Custer, the proprietor, and 6eveiral otber workmen were at the bottom of the quarry working at the time of the explosion. George Fisher, nephew of the man killed, was hit on the head by flying debris and badly injured. SamuelWatt was hit on the chin by a stone and knocked senseless. William Hawk had his shoulder dislocated and Abraham Cripliver had his hand and arm badly hurt.

THE CANNIBAL FEAST. The Contents of Letter from Jameson on the Subject Made Public.

LONDON, NOV. 15.—Mrs. Jameson writes to the papers as follows: "As the Emin relief committee appears to oonsider that the duty of refutation devolves upon me, 1 ask the papers to insert the following letter from my husband, who died a fortnight. after writing it, and who, therefore, was unable to take the further steps which he Intended to clear Uia character."

Jameson's letter is addressed to Sir William Mackinson and is dated Stanley Falls, August 8, 1S88. After describing Assad Farran's statement as false and cruel Jameson writes: "Upon arrival at Ribaruba the chief invited me to his residence, where witnessed a curious native dance following other ceremonies -which Tinpoo said was usually followed by a cannibal feast. I laughed skeptically, whereupon another Arab described a horrible story. I flatly declared thai it was impossible that this could happen. The Arab retorted: 'Give me a bit of cloth and see.' 1 thought this a mer.e ruse to obtain a gift, but the Arab had formerly been kind, so I gave him my handkerchief. Then followed the most horrible scene I ever witnessed in my life. The whole thing happened so quickly that it was impossible to make sketches had I wished to do so. Furthermore, I had nothing to sketch with,. The small sketches 1 made were done ic the evening at my own house. The girl never looked for help. She seemed to know it was her fate. She never stirred hand, fout or head. How the girl was obtained 1 do not yet know, but will send you all the particulars, signed by witnesses, as promised."

He incloses Assad's retraction, in which he says the story in regard to buying a girl to be eaten by cannibals was misunderstood. The handkerchief said to be given for her purchase was a gift and had no reference whatever to the occurrence with which it was erroneously connected.

TROOPS ORDERED OUT Mo Parleying with Indians—Colonel Summer to Take Command of tlie Forces in tho Field Occupied by Kestless Redmen,

WASHINGTON, Nov. 15.—Upon the recommendation of General Miles orders we'e issued Friday by the War Department directing the troops stationed at Forts Meade, Niobrara, Robinson, Laramie and other points in the vicinity of tbo threatened Indian outbreak to take tho field at once. LieutenantColonel Summer, of the Eighth Cavalry, has been ordered to report to General Miles at Chicago, the purpose being to place the former in command of the column ordered into the field. There will doubtless be a repetition of the scene enacted several years ago, vhen the late General Sherman massed a large force of United States troops near Fort Reno, Indian Territory, and thus prevented a threatened outbreak. The War Department now proposes to make a similar demonstration against tho "Northern Indians ana spend no time in •parleying with thom.
