Is the most ancient and most general of all diseases. Scarcely a family is entirely free from it, while thousands everywhere are its suffering slaves. Hood's Snrsr.parflla lias had remarkable success in coring every form of scrofula. The most severe and paLiful running sores, swellings in the neck or goitre, humor in tlie eyes, causing partial or total blindness, yield to the powerful effects of this medicine. It thoroughly re* moves every impurity from the Wood.
Scrofula
"My littlo daughter's life was saved, as we believe, by Hood's Sarsaparllla. Before she was six months old she had 7 running scrofula sores. One physician advised the amputation of one of her fingers, to which we refused assent 'When we began giving her Hood's Sarsaparllla, a marked improvement was noticed and by a continued use ofit her recovery was complete. And she Is now being seven years old, strong and healthy." B. C. JOKES, Alna, Lincoln County, Me.

A *ruly Big Man.
Oar neighboring town of Danville, in Hendricks connty, lays claim and undoubtedly can substantiate it of having the largest human being now living on earth. His name is John A Craig. John who was born in Iowa City, la. in 1854, soon moved to the blue grass region, of Kentucky. At birth he weighed eleven pounds. He grew so rapidly that at the age of 11 months he had seven pounds of flesh to show for each month of his exlstene, weighing seventy-seven pounds. From this time on his gain in flesh was phenomenal, and he was the talk of the community. When he reached the age of 2 yeare his weight was 206 pounds. When he was 4 years old, in 1858.P. T. Barnaul inaugurated a baby show in New York and his parents, hearing of this, reeolved to enter him in competition with the other contestents- He was awarded the prize offered for the largest baby present, $1,000, At the age of 5 years his weight had increased until he weighed 302 pounds. His weight the next six years kept on increasing until he registered 405 pounds. The next eight years his weight increased 196 pounds, making his total weight 601 pounds. He made it 725 pounds when he was 25 years. During the next two years he only increased his weight to 758 pounds but the next year he gained thirtyfour pounds, making the total 792 pounds at tbe age of 28. From that timo his weight has been gradually increasing until at the present time, when he is only 35 years old, he tips the sc «les at 907 pounds. Judging from the past he has not stopped accumulating flesh, and although he has not weighed himself recently it is said he believes he is still increasing
size, and will continue to grow for some years to come. This immense amount of flesh is not caused by an extraordinary appetite, Mr. Crais, on tbo contrary, being a very delicate eater, is not addicted to the use of intoxicants, and does not use tobacco in any form. He suffers no inconvenience from his very heavy weight, and was never ill a day in his life. He stands six feet five inches in his stocking feet and measures eight feet four inches at the hips. The cloth in one of his suits of clothes will serve to make several suits for. ordinary men, it requiring forty-ono yards to make him a full suit—coat, vest, and pataloons—and it takes three pounds of yarn to make him a pair of stockings. He laughingly says that the cows always smile when they see him going to a shoe shop to leave his measure for a pair of boots, as it will take a whole side to make him a pair*

A Late Local Claimant. I
Very much is being witten about the new consumption cure just now, the honor for which is claimed by Dr. Kocb, a German physician of Berlin. Win. H. W. Taylor now of Anderson, but formerly of Crawfordsville, iB claiming a prior discovery, and in a' letter to the Sentinel on Wednesday said
Some fourteen years ago while practicing medicine in Cratordsviile, lnd., assisted by my brother, now president of the board of health of this state. I began and fallowed up a series of experiments in occulation for tbe cure of consumption. The patients were wellknown residents of Montgomery county, Indiana, and the history of the cases operated upon is fresh in the minds of a number of reputable citizens, professional and lay. But owing to the fact that Dr. John Taylor read before the Indiana institute of homoepathy at its May session in Indianapolis a paper detailing a number of cases thus treated, I will not now rehearse them.
I may say however, that remarkable results in tbe way of amelioration of the worst symptoms of advanced cases of phthisis attended all of the experiments—even going to the extent of apparant recovery reaching over years following tbe last inoculations.
I am strongly pursuded that if my method bad been followed up by my successors, in tbe cases referred to, each attack of tuberculosis might have been as successfully met as were tbose in which I did such good services with the virus bovinis. At all events, I should at this time, unhesitatingly advocate a trial of this method in consumption, rattier than any other method or medicine, with which I am acquainted,

Washington street was flooded with burning republican campaigu literature last Wednesday. The rads conducted the Huest campaign (on paper) this year ever in the history of tliut party.
Over 100 excursionists from Waveland visited Anderson on Thursday to see uatural gas exhibitions in that place, and observe the many improvements arising from it.
The Board of Commissioners last Tuesday reappointed George Myers superintendent of the county asylum to serve the ensuing two years. This act is contrary* to all precedence. It has always been customary to appoint a superintendent to serve but one year, but Mr. Price acknowledges no precedence and no law but his own. Truly Montgomery county will lose a great and grand Messiah when this old Roman steps down and out,
Little Talent Clemens, daughter of Frank Clemens, came near meeting death on tbe raiis at the Main staeet crossing of the Monon railroad last Tneeday evening. A freight train was coming from the Junction in two sections, and after the first section: passed, several children, on their way from school not seeing the second section attempted to cross the'traek. Tbe little Clemens child slipped and fell, aad seeing the approaching cars became paralyzed with fear and was unable to arise. A brakeman on the train seeing the child's peril, strained every muscle to stop his cars and finally succeeded within afoot of tbe little girl's body.
Superior Court Decision'
Iu the case of Hannah Peterson vs. the Masonic Mutual Benefit Association, which Mr. Coppage, of the firm of Coppage & White, argned iu the Superior court at Ineianapolis some weeks ago, the demurer of the defendents has been over-ruled by Judge Taylor.
This case involves a very new and interesting question, and is quite a victory for Mr. Coppage, tbe court holding, on the facta stated, that the plaintiff was entitled to the sum due on the policy, although not payable to her, but to defendants, because the decedent made an attempt to assign the same, but failed to take the neeessary steps to make valid. Mr. Coppage was opposed by Judge elect James F. Harney, Hon. D. C. Stover, and Hon. S. J. Peei.e, late member of Congress from the Indianapolis district.
