Mrs. Elizabeth Stipe, wife of Sebastian Stipe, died at her home two miles southeast of this city on Wednesday afternoon last at tbe age of 68 years df paralysis. The interment took place at tbe Beckville cemetery on Friday.

Robert C. Craig, for many years a resident of this county, died at bis home near Thomtown Thursday night of caacer of the stomach at the age of 71 years. His remains will be interred at Sbiloh this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Dr. Charles E Rankin and Miss Laura Maherney were married at the residence ef tbe bride last Tburday evening in the presence of about two hundred invited guests. Tbe ceremoay was performed by hev. G. W. Swltzer and Included the beautiful ring service. The preseatsreceiaed were many and beautiful. Mr. Rankin is one of the most promising young physicians in tbe stato and has a very large practice. He has been a resident of this city for about three years. Tbe bride Is one of Crawfordsville's happiest young ladies, and a society leader. The young couple have taken reoms for the present at the home of the bride's father. THK REVIEW joins in extending congratulations.

Carroll's Popularity.

The follewing are tbe majorities received by Hon, M. J. Carroll at tbe last election: Montgomery, 864 Putnam, 612 Clay, 618 total, 1594. Mr. Carroll's majority two years ago was but 276, making a gain of 1818. This is certainly very complimentary to Mr. C\ course in the last Legislature. It is but an evidence that the people appreciate the right man In the right place. Here's to you, Mike.

Brookshire is as much surprised at his immense majority as any one else, and judging from the result it would not seem that Mount was in the race at all. His majority is over 8,000 in the eighth district. He carries every county in It with the exception of Parke.

We have elected every man on the ticket in tbe county from judge down lo coroner, by majorities ranging from 200 to 898. For the first time in eighteen years we elect the entire democratic ticket. We have a democratic representative the first time since 1872. We have a majority of the board of Commissioners. The republicans were completely whipped-umch worse than before for a long time. The republicans were stripped of their main Implement of political welfare, boodle, and stood no show whatever. Montgomery is reliably democratic under the Australian sytem, and we pro mice the republicans another "off" year In 1892 if no boodle is used.

Democratic Majorities Range From 217 to 1,008 in the County.

The results of the elections in all the States where held were certainly encouraging ts tbe democracy. It indicates an awakening of the people to their interests. The infamous McKlnley bill played an important part In bringing about a change in the republican programme. In almost every State tbe republicans have been beaten, or their former majorities greatly reduced. Here are some of the results from the Tuesday elections:

In Indiana wo have 11 out ot thirteen members of Congress, and the next Congress will not all be one-sided as now, but the democrawill have a majority in tbe House.

THE STATE ELECTIONS.

INDIAMA.

The election news from the state grows better as the returns come in. We claimed the earth yesterday morning, as nothing else was in sight, and see no reason to modify the opinion. The democrats have elected eleven out of the thirteen congressmen, viz: Parrett in.the First district, Bretz in the Second, Brown, Third Holinan, Fourth Cooper, Fifth Bynain, Seventh Brookshire, Eight Patton, Tenth: Martin, Eleventh McClellan, Twelth and Shivley in the Thirteenth. The democratic majority in the legislature will be sixty-five on joiut ballot aud the state ticket has secured an enormouB majority that may run to 20,000 and can harly fall below 18,000. The republicans endeavoured to pull off Judge Parrett yesterday, but as our dispatches will show, tlie judge has been elected by a handsome majority. The republicaus must content themselves with two congressmen—Mr. Johnston in the Sixth district and Judge Waugh in the Ninth.

ILLINOIS.

Tbe full vote of Illinois, official, unofficial and estimated, indicates tbe election of Amberg, rep., for state treasurer by a plurality of about 10,000 over Wilson, democrat. Edwards, rep., for superintendent of public instruction, has a plurality of 8,000 over Raab, dem.

KANSAS.

The republican candidate for governor is beaten six out of seven republican congressional candidate are defeated ~Senator Iugalls' re-election is a subject of grave doubt. That is the situation in Kansas.

There was a land-slide, a regular avalanche In Kansas. Eighty-two thousand republican majority was overwhelmed by its restlesB force aud buried beneath its destructive weight. Tho Farmers' Alliance did It 4nd it was a genuiue surprise. Every political prophet predicted great strength for the alliance, but only the most sanguine of tbe rural seers regarded its success as even a probability. The chances for the democrats seepied much brighter, tbe alliance strength depleting to an enervating degree tho vigor of the republiciu party. On the evening of the election, Humphrey, rep., was considered a probability, Robiusou, dem., a possibility, and Wiliet* Farmers' alliance not in it. To-day the re, turns, practically complete, landed Willets thewinner, with Humphrey and Robinson neck and nock for the place.

The republicans lose six out of t'ie seven congressmen, and there Is another surprise. For ttie first time in many years the republican delegation is broken and broken to fragments.

Tbe republican state committee on unofficN al returns received from 75 counties and the balance estimated, claim the republican plurality on the head of the state ticket will be between 14,003 and 15,000,

The committee concedes the defeat of McKlnley, rep., for congress by about 200, and Foster, rep., by 75 or 100. The democratic candidates in the other close congressional districts received majorities ranging from 500 upward, with the exception of fiosgrave, at Cincinnati, who is defeated by Storer rep., by 2,700.

FOUNTAIK.

Fountain county has gone democratic by 72 majority for tbe state ticket. All the democratic candidates for county offices have been elected except the recorder, the republican candidate John G. Keeter being elected by a good plurality. Hanley, republican candidate for state senator, for tbe counties of Fountain and Warren has been elected by a decreased republican plurality. Elliot Bowman, dem., has been elected representative to succeed Hessler, rep. W. H. Cox and.iate on both the democratic and people's "tickets bas been elected over Bingham, rep., In the Twentyfirst judical circuit.
