The commissioners have accepted the Gravelly Run gravel road in Franklin township on Condition that the people tendering it will first put 60 loads of now gravel thereon.

James Davern, son of Wm. Davern, died at bis home on Franklin street Monday night of consumption at the age of 24 years. The funeral occurred on Wednesday,Rev. J.R. Dinnen officiating.

Wednesday morning Mayor Carr bound a Mrs. Nancy Davis over to keep the peace. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Kate Woodward occupy the same dwelling on Freemont street and use the same wood bouse which caused an unpleasantness between the twotand Mrs. Davie, in a moment of anger, threatened to kill her neighbor it so and so occurred.

Mrs. Tort Seering created quite a sensation on Washington street, Monday, by screaming that her little son had fallen into a privy vault back of the restaurant. About 200 people congregated and a thorough dredging of the vault was made but no child was found. The littl" fellow soon emerged from the rear of one of the ad job lag store rooms and quickly settled its mother's lamentations.

Chas. A. (iarduer appeared to a large audience at the Arch Street Theatre last night in "Fatherland." There is plenty of singing and dancing, with Gardner as the central figure in the guise ot a Tyrolean guide. He is assisted by a number of clever people, including a "Tyrolean Quartette," from Salzburger, and the company thoroughly entertained the large audience.—Philadelphia Evening Telegraph, April 22,1890.

A Serious Runaway-

Last Monday evening as Miss Minnie Watkins and Mrs. Warren McBroom's little girl were driving down Main street their horse became frightened and ran away. With frightful speed it dashed down the street to Simpson street where it attempted to turn, but the buggy upset and the occupants thrown out. Miss Watkins escaped with slight injuries but the little McBroom girl was terribly bruised and has been quite sick ever since.

A Hard Fall-

Rev. Cuppy, the Baptist minister at Waveland, while picking apples from a tree in his yard Tuesday evening, lost his balance and fell heavily to the ground, a distance of about ten Teet While no bones were broken it is feared he sustained internal injuries which may prove fatal. He is confined to his bed where be lays and moans, suffering untold agonies.
