been saved by the prompt use of Ayer's Pills. Travelers by land or sea are liable to constipation or other derangements of the stomach and bowels which, if neglected, lead to serious and often fatal consequences. The most aura moans of correcting these evils is the use of Ayer's Cathartic Pills. The prudent sailing-master would as soon go to sea without his chronometer as without a supply of these Pills. Though prompt and energetic in operation, Ayer's Pills leave no ill effects they are purely vegetable and sugar-coated the safest medicino for old and young, at home or abroad. "For eight years I was afflicted with constipation, which at last became so bad that the doctors could do no more for me. Then I began to take Ayer's Pills, and soon the bowels recoverad their natural and regular action, so that now I am in ^...

Excellent

health.-— Mrs. 0. E. Clark, Tewksbury, Massachusetts. "I regard Ayer's Pills as one of the most reliable general remedies of our tunes. They have been in use in my family for affections requiring a purgative, and have given unvarying satisfaction. We have found them an excellent remedy for colds and light fevers."— W. R. Woodson, Fort Worth, Texas.

For several years I have relied more upon Ayer's Pills than upon anything else in the medicine chest, to regulate my bowels and those of the ship's crew. These Pills are not severe in their action, but do their work thoroughly. I have usod thetai xvltu gobu effect for the cure of rheumatism, kidney troubles, and dyspepsia." —Capt. Mueller, Steamship Felicia, New York City. "*—•. "I have found Ayer's Cathartic Tills to be a better family medicine for common use than any other pills within my knowledge. They are not only very effective, but safe and pleasant to take qualities which must make them valued by the public." Jules HaueL Perfumer, Philadelphia, Pa.

JAMES A- MOUNT-

A Conversation With Him That Explains Saveral PointsFollowing Is a report of a conversation held with James A. Mount, the republican candidate, in Crawfordsville. It explains why Lis speech here in Turre Haute wasn't printed.

Volar—Good morning Mr. Mount (shake hands.) Have you any of your speeches printed.

Mr. Mount.—No, the parties in Terre Hauto wanted me to write them a speech and have it printed there and distributed over the district, but I told them that I thought it bad policy for the reason that there are too many kinds of people aud interests in this district— might offend some.

Voter.—Then vou think it poor policy to get yourself on record too much? Mr. Mount.—Decidedly so. A person doesn't want to get himseif in print too much. Can't please every body.

Voter.—What uo you think of your prospects? Mr. Mount.—Can't tell anything about it. The new election law makes it doubtful. Can't tell what peoplo will do when they g«t |q a room by therasehec.

Voter. What Is thd matter with your hat? It seems to be all mashed and badly damaged? Mr. Mount.—Oh, that is my granger bat. it will have to last me until the election it over.—Terre Haute Gazette.

Hart Goes Clear.

Jacob Hart, a tenant farmer ot the Rouiney neighborhood, charged with incest With his Comely 16 year old daughter, Nettie, was up for trial in the Circuit court last Friday. Mrs. Hart, wife of the accused, supposed to have given tiie iuforinatiotl to JlialW the fas? Jfor the state, denied that she had discovered her husband in criminal intimacy with their daughter. The girl in every particular denied that her father had been criminally intimate with her. Judge Langdon had no alternative but to dismiss the case and discharge the prisoner, and he did this at the suggestion of the state's attorney,—Lafayette Times.

Professor Gauthier, of Paris, states that certain vital processes ot the body develop putrefying substances in the tissues, which, if not speedily eliminated, produce disease. Ayer's Sarsaparilla effects the removal of these substances. and thereby preserves health.

Clogged kineys, sluggish liver and inactive bowels speedily manifested in the vitaled and inutritious blood show how far impaired are tho vital oi gans, each of which, while seriously affecting the others, is in itself reactedfopon disastrously, either directly ortfthrough the blood, by all the rest. Medical science lis infiuitely richer in the nomenclature of the diseases thus induced than in medicines for their cure. There is indeed but one preparation that can bo relied upon to act certainly aud speedily for tho restoration to health and that is Dr. Kennedy's Favorite Remedy. In a vast numbers of cases it has effected cures of the most obstinate and daugerous diseases—particularly those of the kidneys and liver—where all other treatment has proved valueless. Sfl ffi
