WHAT IS IT?
Persons outside of tlie profession often ask. what Is an Emulsion We answer,an Emulsion Is a combination cf two or more liquids, so thoroughly mixed that each Is held In permanent suspension. Several of the much advertised 'Emulsions' now on the market are nothing more than compounds, and a microscopic examination will reveal globules of oil In their original form. Magee's Emulsion
lseomposed of one-third part Coil-Liver Oil, onethird part Extract of Malt, and one-third part Compound Syrup of Hypoposph ltes of Lime and Soda, each of which must be of the finest quality obtainable. These three valuable Ingredients, with a little flavoring extract, are put into a 'mtxer,' where It Is emulsified for six hours by steam power, at the rate Of 128 revolutions per minute, which breaks every globule of the oil, and combines It with the other ingredients In such a thorough manner that no separation will ever occur. Brookshire's Speech.
The speech of the Hon. li. Brookshire on the tariff Saturday was the very best he ever delivered. Ho showed the fallacy of the Blaine reciprocity scheme with the Latin states of South America. He shows conclusively that iu all agricultural products these couutries wore competitors with the United States that they had a surplus to export, and could create no demand for exports that would help our farmers in the least. He proved that we exported twenty-five times as much of the products to Europe as we did to all of South America. He further showed that this reciprocity scheme was but auother straw thrown out by the protected barons to deceive the farmers after the "home market" and other fallacies had be come threadbare. He is being highly complimented by his brother congressmen on the democratic side, many of whom have ordered thousands or copies to he used iu their respective districts.—Indianapolis Sentinel.

THE CRAWFORDSVILLE WEEKLY REVIEW.
A Reply to City Teacher,
EDITOR REVIKW: I shall say nothing more at present about the management of the last county institute, because it appears that Mr. Zuck prefers to remain silent rather than to run the risk of making a bad job worse by au attempted auswer. I expected a business like and straight forward reply to both articles in this paper, but none came.
I understand that the principles of this government give every man a right to call in question the nets of auy public officer, and if it turns out that the accuser is wrong, it is not only the privilege, but it is the duty of the accused to set himself right befor the public.
I have been credibly informed that Mr. Zuck deprecated the outrageous manner in which a self-conceited, vgotistical popinjay gave vent to his revengeful nature, and sought this opportunity to yent bis spite on the party whom he supposed had written certain articles reflecting on the management of the last institute, but in which he had no interest whatever, except that of malice towards a certain person upou whom he wanted to vent bis spite. If he had been honest and his intentions were good, and he wanted to do the fair thing between men, why did he not answer those articles in the columns of this paper, as a disinterested party ought to have done"?
Before proceeding with this article, I beg pardon of the teachers, on account of the harsh words that I am compelled to use in order to chastise an insulent cur who has nothing in common with the teachers of this county, because he never taught school here in his life and the reason why I sharpen my pencil to scorcli him i°, because we have to fight the devil with fire.
Mr. A. B. C. may think that he is some of a newspaper man, but the public, long since have lenrued that he (I'd not possess the first characteristic of au honorable journalist, and the next article that he writes, instead of signing his name "City Teacher," it would be more appropriate for him to writo it A. B. C., or A Bad Cuss.
Some persins have expressed surprise as to how I lew who wrote those articles in the Journp'. It was no trouble to tell the animal by his ear marks, or to tell when a skuuk is near without seeing it and besides you can always te'l one of those long-nosed, lop-oared backwoods pet-hounds by his yelp, and his inclination to hound other people, together with his other canine instincts, ought to class him where he properly belongs.
He says "that he took up this fightof his own accord," which is an acknowledgement on his part that he is an unsolicited lickspittle for the purpose of doing scavenger work, and to throw dift in order to divert attention from the real issue involved.
He says, "It seems to him that he attended an institute in which a tax of 50 cents was charged." If he did it was under Cantly or tome one since, because such a thing never was done in this county prior to that time, and h's insinuation to that effect was to mislead and deceive, as he very well knew when he made it, and as scores of teachers in this couiity can attest,
I am not seeking office, neither am I posing before the public, like some of those hangers on about the court house, who, in their inisaided zeal are liable to do more harm than good to those ou whom they depend for their bre.id pud butter, and I warn them now against h'^ treachery and deceit and that he cau not be relied on, because his head is not the right shapa, rs anyone cm see who wi'l ta'te the trouble '.D consult a phrenological journal which is fornd a description of the head of Judas Iscariot. His countenance, too, says that lie is a sneak aud that he will betray even a friend if lie haB no more use for him and if he can make anything by so doing, as the writer well knows, aud there is not'rig that Muses a man to lose faith iu h's Lnd 'i':e that of base ingi.itUude. When one who has been the wi'Mng recipient of our bounty and steern in more prosperous days tiiius and reviles us in our advei3ity, it makes us ferl weak and trembly, because as Carroll Judson says: "It makes the whole head '.1 ache. j-J&i Aud the whole heat fa'utly sick.1'
The very contour of his visage indicates that' of cowardice, which is only iu keeping with his whole nature, because n'l valtures and birds of il'-oiueu are natural cowards. This fact was demonstrated iu bis case, because that part of town where he lived, not long since, got too hot for him and he had to pull tip aud get out to keep from beine mobbed by the women iu the neighborhood. He's getting more cautious now, and he seldom ever slanders anyone unless it be the sick or afflicted, except women aud chi'dren. He has been known to steal his way through dark alleys aud along shady lanes to keep from meeting those whom he had traduced aud wronged. Dryden had just such a man before his mind when he pened the following: "Dastard and coward, mean aud iusoleut Tougue-villian hero, vaunter of thy might, In threats the foremost, but the last in tighl.'
I ant told that he tries to preach sometimes. God save the church! But this is a free couutry, and ou account *f his egotism aud his assinine proclivities I suppose that he will continue ts bray, if for no other reason than to hear his own voice. Such men, who are but wolves iu sheep's clothing, cause nngels to weep and devils to blush ou account of their hollow mockery, hypocritical pretensions and sanctimonious cussedness, and because of his revengeful, spiteful and vindictive spirit he is 110 more suited for a preacher of the gospel than bell is for a powder-house. Such men are au injury to the church, because tlioy do more harm than ijo.cl, and there will bd more of such preachers in lu'll than of any other Claw of men, in prop.iriion to their number, for they are making morn iulidels than^hristiaiy^ ou account of their iucousistencie3.|pl g||j|
When he goes to prayer meeting next We Inesday evening I suggest that he read from Luke (5:27 to 38, aud the more of Dr, Luke's medicine ho takes according to directions, the so»uer he will get over his present attack of hydrophobia. And the next time he goes to the country to preach, where he is not known •0 well as he is here in town, let him take his text iu Matt. 7:4-5. COUNTY TKAOHKK.
