WHAT IS IT?
Persons outside of the profession often ask. what Is an Emulsion We answer.an Emulsion Is a combination of two or more liquids, so thoroughly mixed that each is held in permanent suspension. Several of the much advertised 'Emulsions' now on the market are nothing more than compounds, and a microscopic examination will reveal globules of oil in their original form. The Emulslom made by Mean. J. A. Magce & Co., Lawrence. Ma\s., everyjwherc 80 favorably known by physicians as
Is composed 6f one-third part Cod-Liver Oil, onethird part Extract of Malt, and one-third part Compound Syrup of Hypoposphltes of Ume wid Sodi. •eaeh of which must be of the finest Quality obtainable. These three valuable ingredients, with a little flavoring extract, are put into a 'mixer, where it Is emulsified for six hours by steam power, at the rate of 128 revolutions per minute, which breaks every clobule of the oil, and combines it with the other Wtredlents in such a thorough manner that no separation will ever occur. Magee's Emulsion te no equal for the relief and cure of Coughs,Colds, Scrofula, Dyspepsia and General Debility.

County Institute Again.
MK. EDITOR: I uoticed a short article iu the Journal the other day thr-t purported to be au interview with the county superintendent with regard to an article that appeared in this paper some time siuce criticising the management of the institute.
As that article expressed the views of a large per cent, of the teachers of this county, aud contained a reasonable request, it would have been but justice to the managers, jind a source of satisfaction to all concerned if a straight forward and manly answer had been given with regard to the manner in which the mouey bad been expended, instead of trying to dismiss the subject with an Insolvent bluff.
He says that he will pay the 50 cents back to county teacher, which was intended as a bluff of course. 1 did not ask any money back, neither am I objecting to paying an institute tax, provided it is judiciously expended. But I am opposed to this loose, uubusiness like and unsatisfactory way of running the institute.
Until recently the $50 appropiated by law has been sufficient to pay the expenses of the institutes in this county, hut if it is not sufficient now, let the managers have it understood before baud that all mouey left from the institute fund shall be expended for books for the teachers' library that we are trying to establish in this county. But siuce teachers never were known to pay anything towards helping an institute, and never were known to attend one the whole week uutil they were in a position where tbey could get pay for their times.
The Journal says "that Mr. has an itemized account of all expenses, and about $S still remains iu the treasury."
If he had published the itemized account, there would have been no criticism, providing It bad
sbowu
a judicious expenditure of tl:e
money.
The same interview makes him say, "that the $8 will not be used in osculatory advances the pretty young lady teachers," by which suppose he means he can get all the kisses he wants without paying for them.
Those who live in glass houses, should not begin to throw stones," and if kisses do cost something sometimes, they do not as a rule furnish gossip half so juicy as a certain episode that is said to have occurred in the northwest part of this county, once npon a time.
I sbail not now reply to the scurrillous tirade of "city teacher" that was printed in the Journal Inst Saturday, because it is a conglomeration of ribaldry, contemptible allusions and musty sentences which show plainly that the author has resumed his old habit of eating "raw beef" and of sticking bis nose where it does not belong.
If Mr. Z. cannot write bis own articles, we suggest that he get some one besides a pen-ny-a-liner, and especially some one who has taught at least one school in this county.
They may continue to throw dirt and to make insinuations, but the facts remain the same,
I now arise to a point or order, and demand the original question, because the teachers waut to know what did become of the 'i'lO

Not since the disruption of Barlow, Wilson, Primrose it West had (Jeorge Wilson faced a Brooklyn audience until 17, when be opened at the above bouse. In the halcyon days of this famous organization Mr. Wilson was always a funny man, and siuce organizing his owu company lie has become, if possible, more funny. This is a certaiu magnetism about Mr. Wilson which at once creates a bond of sympathy between the minstrel aud his audience. His wit never decends to grossness, nor does he appeal to a vicious or superficial taste, but he is the impersonation of genteel humor, r.nd clothes the minstrel with an air of refinement and good taste which can not but be appreciated by the class which compose this house's patronage, Tlie audience which crowded the house 17, was an old fashioned, first night one, and received Mr.
