The most efficient advertising in behalf of Hood's Sarsapariila is that which comes from the medicine itself, That is those who are cured by it, speak to friends suffering similarly, who in turn derive benefit and urge others to try this successful medicine. Thus the circle of its noularity is rapidly widening from this cause alone, and are more and more becoming enthusiastic in behalf of Hood's Snrsaparilla as it actually demonstrates its absolute merit. All that is asked for Hood's Sarsapariila is that it be given a fair trial. If you need a good blood purifier, or building up medicine, try Hood's Sarsapariila.

MINERS TO STRIKE.*

Over 40,000 Men iu Illinois and Indiana Coal Melds to Demand an Increase in Pay.

PiTTSiiL'iNiM, Pa., Sept. is. —Patrick McBryde, member of the executive board^of the United Mine W orkers, was in Pittsburgh Wednesday night on his way to hpringlield. 111., where he will order a striko of the 40.0 )0 minors employed in tlie Indiana and Illinois fields. The strike will be for an advance in wages and wilL begin November 1. In the northern districts an advance of seven and one-half cents is asked. In the southern districts tho advance' asked is ten cents. The strike Has been brewing for a lony tnue. Tne Illinois and Indiana operators. is charged, have been showing themselves particularly hostile toward the men. Tho demands were made last spring1. The miners then announced tliev would work throughout the summer. Thooperators have sieadilv refused tho advance, except tnoso lns^t-he northern districts. who will® concede it if tho sotuuorn operators will also mako tno concession. As tho latter refused to do so, however, a striko is certain. 'lho miners havo been preparing for tho strike, and plenty of funds have been secured to put back-bono into it. Tho executive board of tho United Mine Workers has sanctioned the strike, and Mr. MoBryde £oos WeM as its rep* re'sentative. Mr. McHrvde said: "There will certainly bo a strike of tho Indiana and Illinois miners. Wo are well prepared for it and will ask the Pennsylvania and Ohio operators to shut down temporarily in order that we mav close every avenue of escape for tho Western operators."

I'ALMKIl's PICK.

CHICAGO, Sept. 18.—At yesterday's session of the National Columbian Exposition Commission President Palmer announced an executive committee, which is to have all the powers of tho National Commission when the commission is not in session, except in cases in which tho act of Congress requires tho action of the commission. They shall repoot fully all ihoir transactions to tho commission. The committee is as follows:

President Palmer is chairman by tho resolution of the commission adopted July, 1.

The report of tho committee on rules, by-laws and regulations was read. Two stated meetings of the commission aro provided for annually, viz.: on the first Wednesday in April and September of each year during its existence, commencing in April, 1891. Special meetings are to bo held on the call of the president, which call may be made on his own motion, or at the written request of tiie executive oommit-tee or of one-third of the members of the commission. Salaries are fixed as follows: President, 812,000 year Secretary, $10,000 a year Director General, S15,0»0 a year. The following standing committees worp provided for

Fishe-nies and Fish Culture, ElecM-ickj and Blectriciri Appliances, Forestry anil Lumber, Machinery, World's Congresses.

The committee oil legislation presented its report. The section relating to the board of lady managers provoked a lengthy debate. Several amendments were adopted, and tho section as finally agreed upon is in brief as follows: "The board of lady managers shall consist of two women from each State and Territory arfd the District of Columbia, to be nominated by the commissioners from the several States and Territories and the District of Columbia, and of one woman to be nominated by each of the commissioners-at-large. aid to be appointed by the President and, also, nine •women of tJie city of Chicago, to be appointed by the President, as has been expressly determined by the resolution of the commission and a like number of alternates, to be appointod in the same manner as the principals and to assume the duties and functions ot such principals only when the principals are unable to attend. Principals and alternates shall bo duly commissioned accordance with the direction of the commi«H4Dti. Tue board of lady managers shall be convened by tWi order ot the executive committee of tho National commission at such tunes and places as they may deem proper. Each member of the board shall be entitled to receive six dollars a day for each day necessarily absent from home engaged in the work of tho commission, and also the expenses for transforation actually incurred by her on that account. Tho alter nates shall receive no compensation nor expeases for transportation except in cases whero their principals are unable to attend to the duties assigned to them.

There is now a strong1 probability that Colonel Gooi-go R. Davis, of this city, will be Director General of the great, fair. as at an informal conference of tho local board Tuesday evening ho was unanimously indorsed as the choico of that body. His selection is considered to be a wiso one. and there is a general hope that tho National body will indorse the choice of the local board. Gene-ral Hastings, of Pennsylvania, is his leading rival.

The effects of this developement of the nerves are felt mainlv in two ereat nerve centers, the brain and sexual organs. In the brain, the effects obtained aro increase of memory, powex of perception, judgment, activity of thought and production ol ideas. A healthy vigorous brain makes a quick thinker and a bright talker. In the sexual organs tlie effect of this developement is to increase their vi^or, making the weak strong and the strong stronger. To develope the vital torce and increase the power as above described it is onlv necessary to increase the supply of nerve food in the blood and this can be accomplished by the use of Sappho Pellets, a specific put up by E. L. Janes & Co.. of New 1 ork, and composed of ingredients which are assimilated in the ood in the form ol protagon and cholesterin. Sappho Pellets not only stimulate the powers but being an actual nerve nourishment, are tonic and lasting their effects. Their immediate results are of the most pleasing and satisfactory character.
