The Indiana School book Co., through their attorneys, Bayless & Guenther, haye filed a suit against the school trustees of this city to com Deli them to pay for the books sent her* last year. These books are still here but will not be paid for until sold, as we believe such was the understanding when the order was made. When the books arrived they were opened and placed on sale. Every person who desired to purchase was given an opportunity to do so. Just how the school book company expects to enforce payment by the trustees we fail to comprehend.—Frankfort News.

A Diigraceful Scent.
The Journal of Wednesday prints the following: "A gentleman residing in the neighbor' hood or Balhinch was in the city to-day and relates an interesting episode which occurred in his vicinity yssterday at the funeral of James Douglas. It seems tbat the wife of Mr. Donglas had left him shorly before he died of consumption, and he, together with them, was taken to the home of his father where he died on Monday. At the Balhinch grave yard yerterday, Just as as the grave Kras filled, the mother of the children put ia an appearance and proceeded to take them in charge. The grandparents interferred and a regular row took place la the drizzling rniu over the new made grave. The mother finally marched away with her offspring*, and the grandparents sorrowfully wended their way homeward. Grandfather Douglas, wfeo is a well-to-do farmer, will take legal action to have a guardian appointed for his grandchildren, as their mother is in straightened circumstances. The unfortunate affair is greatly deplored by Hie whole neighborhood."

Among the many fine displays at the fair this week none was more prominent than that of the old reliable firm of Cohoon & Fisher. With Turnbnll wagons piled mountain high, an ar.my of Deering binders, a dozen or more of the celebrated Brown cultivators, the Biglit was gorgeous. The success of this firm is phenominal and their displays at our county fair are as eagerly watched for by our fair patrons as any attraction on the grounds. This year the magnificent exhibit has proven quite a financial success, having sold and delivered eight Deering binders, besides several of the celebrated Turnbull wagons and Brown cultivators. This firm this year has sold two car loads of these wagons and have two more car loads on the way that will reach here the first of the week, some or which are already sold. Come iu and get one.

The Beit Advertising.
The most efficient advertising in behalf of Hood's Sarsaparilla is that which comes fron the medicine itself. That is those who are ctired by it, speak to friends suffering similarly who in turn derive benefit and urge others to try this successful medicine. Thus the circle of its noukirity is rapidly widening from this eausel alone, and are move and more becoming enthusiastic in behalf of Hood's Sarsaparilla as it aatvaliy demonstrates its absolute merit. All that is asked for Hood's Sarsaparilla ib that It be given a fair trial. If you need a good blood purifier, or buildiug up medicine, try Hood's Sarsaparilla.

London. 11.—The riots 111 Southampton cdm.\M.lay were tbe most se rious tliat have occurred in England for many yoa-k. The police wor-e utterly unabk- grtipplu witii the troublo and tr.-o i-oiiip:iiiies o! infantry wore equally pov.fi'ivss tintii th«jy had freely UROd the bayonet ii "jjOvtral of the strikers and v.vm supplied with ball cartridjf-es. Tbe iUc:mpt, to break the line of the soldiers by a furious char-ru of a number of men mounted c.u c-i'.Vi horses showed great courage, but iittle knotviedgo of their own soldiers. 0:ily onco or twice ia history has -int of Mritish soldiers been broken by a charge of cavalry, bui these unarmed and untrained men thought they could aocompllsh the feat by a blind rush of a few old colts ridden bnrebacked.'- Nearly all the strikers who took part in this fol4^ were badly hurt. The resort to violence has alienated much public sympathy from ihom. The strikers telegraphed to Michael Davitt and Cunmngham tiroen to come to their assistance. The Times has .111 editorial bitterly denouncing Home Secretary Matthew.* for failing to suppress disorder on tho part of striking work-ing.-men. The article declared tlhat tho Secretary is by his weakness training the working elasnos to believe that the Government will not prevont them from indulging in riot and bloodshed. The dockers of London and Dublin are combining, tbe object of the coalition boing to in force the demands of the dockers at the latter port foe better pay and treatment.. Tho ehartoring of steamers by the colonial goverm•ments to obtain coal from India for the g^s works is the worst blow the Australian strikers have yot received. It h'uets the miners as well as tho otty strikers and commits the colonial governments against tho strike.
Affairs are still menacing. More troops have been stuiimoned to tbe Bo&ne of tbe strike. A number of boats manned by tbe strikers a*e laying out in tbe.s£ryim with a view of intarcepti*^ incoming steamers and prevailing trpon tlioir crews to strike. Tlip admirality lias been naked by tbe local authorities 10 assis-in preventing this new move. liUght »f the strikers hare been wnested*or noting. The mayor's house was threatened by the mob and he at ojico telephoned for soldinrs, who instantly responded.
Seventeen more urrests of strikers have been made. Posters issued by the mayor urging tho men to remain in ffheir house* were angrily seized by tho mob a^id destroyed. Business in ibis place has beoome paralyzed.
Tho employers hold a mooting and subsequently issued a.band-bill promising every protection to men returning to work. Tbe unlo.n submitted a proposal for an advanco in wages, undertaking not to ask a furthe? increase for two years tfc come. The employees, however, deelined to accept the condltlea that no non-union oten skoald Vfe employed.'
