they And how rapidly health is restored by taking Ayer's SarBaparllla. The reason is that this preparation contains only the purest and most powerful alteratives and tonics. To thousands yearly it proves a veritable elixir of life.
Mrs. Jos. Lake, Brockway Centre,' Mich., writes: "Liver complaint and indigestion made my life a burden and came near ending my existence. For more than four years 1 suffered untold agony. I was reduced almost to a skeleton, and hardly bad strength to drag myself about. All kinds of food distressed me, and only the most delicate could be digested at all. Within the time mentioned several physicians treated me witlfnut giving relief. Nothing that I took seemed to do any permanent good', until I began the use of Ayer's Sars&parilla, which has produced wondetful resulta. Soon otter commencing to take the Sarsaparil'a I could see an

Suicide of John N, Insley.
The followiug special under date of Aug. 24, from Oskaloosa, Kan., to the Lafayette Journal explains itself:
John N. Insley, assistant cashier of the Oak?lo sastato bank, real estate dealer and abstracter, committ: 1 suicide in his office terday. He shot himself four times in the region of the heart. At the death of EH Metzger, a wealthy citizen of Jefferson county, in 1885, Insley was appointed administrator of his estalo. A short time ago he filed bis final report of settlement Judge nuron, of Topeka, who was guardian of the minor heirs, and some ot the heirs who had reach their majority, took exception to the report and a referee was appointed by the court to investigate. The referee has been at work on Insley's books and the investigation has shown that luBley was short several thousand dollars in his accounts. Insley was 03 years of nnd leaves a wife and four grown childri i.
HP owned a large amount of property, but it is found to have been heavily incumbered. John Insley, more familiarly known as "Newt," was born and raised In this county, and left here ouly a few years ago for Kansas. J. J. Insley left for Oskalocr.n lr.nt Saturday to attend the funeral.
Euined by Poker.
George C. Stockton, cashier of the Wabash freight office at Lafayette, is missing. There is a shortage of between §2,000 and $5,000, but the exact amount has not been ascertained. Stockton was an expert acountant and was bald in the highest esteem. His downfall was due to poker. He was bonded by the Guarantee company of North America, whose agent is at Lafayette to investigate matters, and the railroad will not lose anything. Stockton was married and had one son quite small. His disappearance has created a sensation.

ISotli Ankles Crashed.
In a railroad smash up in 1876, I had both ankles badly crushed. Soon after blood poison set in, aud both legs, from my knees down, were covered with ulcerated sores, that refused all efforts to heal. I was virtually helpless for ten years being bedridden most of the time. During all the time I was attended by the best pbyjicians in this section of the state, and must have taken a cart load of medicine without receiving any relief or being benefited In any way. Tn 1887 I was induced to try Swift's Specific (SSS.) I commenccd to improve from the first dose, and continued to Set better, until to day I am sound and well as any man iu the universe. This was two years ago, since which I have had no return ofsoi^sorany pain in t'ae legs. From my experience 1 conscientiously believe that Swift's Specific (.SSS) hr„? no equal as a blood purifiei, and I cheerfully recommend it to any one suffering from any disease of the blood.
