been saved by the prompt use of Ayer's Pills. Travolers by land or sea are liable to constipation or other derangements of the stomach and bowels which, if neglected, lead to serious and often fatal consequences. The most sure means of correcting these evils is the use of Ayer's Cathartic Pills. The prudent sailing-master would as soon go to sea without his chronometer as without a supply of these Pills. Though prompt and energetic in operation, Ayer's Pills leave no ill effects they are purely vegetable and sugar-coated the safest medicine for ol^ and young, at home or abroad.
For eight years I was afflicted with constipation, which at last became so bad that the doctors could do no more for me. Then I began to take Ayer's Pills, and soon .the bowels recovered their natural and regular action, so that now I am in

They.have been in use in my family for affections requiring a purgative, and have given unvarying satisfaction. We have found them an excellent remedy for colds and light fevers."— W. R. Woodson, Fort Worth, Texas.
For several years I have relied more upon Ayer's Pills than upon anything else in the medicine chest, to regulate my bowels and those of the ship's crew. These Pills are not severe in their action, but do ttMir work thoroughly. I liave used tliem with good §ffect for the cure of rheumatism, kidney troubles, and dyspepsia." Capt. I have fouM Ayer's Cathartic Pills to be a better ftfmily medicine for common use than any other pills within my knowledge. They are not only very effective, but safe and pleasant to tako qualities which must make them valued by jthe pahlic." Jules Hauel, Perfumer, PhilarfHpfiTa, Pa.

A SPLENDID MOVE.
A Suggestion of VjUuablo Interest to Farmer and Merchant Alike. Some gentlemen have been looking for a creamery location and are very favorably iuipi essud with Orawfordsville as a possible site, i'liey propose to establish a creaulery tliat will liaudle the milk from 1,500 to 2,000 cows per ilny. The centrifugal system of. seperatiDg cream from milk will be used. This system of separating cream from milk no longer requires consideration as an experimental feature, being now an absolute essential in tbe equipment of a first class creamery. The creamery will be operated on the co-operative plan, which system has superceded all others in dairy countries. The fanner strains the milk into large cans which hold about 100 pounds of milk, or 12 gallons, which is hauled to the creamery. There the cream is at once separated from the milk by passing through the "Centrifugal Seperators," and the skimmed milk returned to the patron for feeding calves, hogs, etc. The milk is weighed and tested, 100 pounds of milk making 4 pound of butter. An average cow will give 175 pounds of milk per week which is equivalent to 7 pounds of butter. So every patron knowing how many pounds of milk he has sent to the creamery knows how much buttbr he is entitled pay for. This butter is packed and shipped to the best markets in the United States and a settlement made every 15 days, when each patron receives the amount due him, less 4 cts. per pound for making and packing. The average price for butter made by this process for the past 5 or 6 years has been 25 cts. per pound, making the patrons about four times as much for their butter as they can get on the market for butter of their own make, saying nothing of the vast amount of work the woman folks of every dairy would be relieved of. Milk could be used in all directions from Crawfordsville for 15 miles, one team hauling the milk for several patrons from each district, one team hauling 80 cans or 8,000 pounds of milk. The county will be canvassed soon to see how many cows the milk can be had from and if sufficient number are pledged to guarantee enough milk to run on, the plant will be put in at once.
Eev. Hickman and the Federal Election Law. A speumi to the Indianapolis Journal from frjfrchester, Ind., says: "Grace M. E. church 3Ws reopened to-day after undergoing repairs.
Race
twett Cincinnati, O. 03 '81
In the morning Dr. Hickman, of Clark University, preached on attonement. Iu the evening be delivered a lecture on the race problem. ID th» course of bis remarks be became considerably partisan. He expressed himself as' cousidering the federal election bill aD imposition on the white people of the South. He said the whites of the South would not tokrate the bill, and that the Republican partycould not secure a greater representation from that section by the passage of the bill, as the South would resist it Dr. Hickman favors the expulsion of the colored race frem the South, but suggests no plan by which he thought it could be done. A collection taken up at the close or the lecture was contributed to almost exclusively by democrats. Rev. Wilson, pastor of the Grace M. E. church, noticing the political complexion of the contributors, made mentien of it to the congregation. His remarks fell like a wet blanket upon the andience, and nearly everybody went away."
The above utterances coming from a gentleman so thoroughly acquainted with the position of the Negroes and whites in the South should show to the worst partisan the folly of tho federal election bill. Mr. Hickman is a republican of the whole cloth, but we are proud to note that he doesn't permit his political prejudices to overcome his good judgment. Mr. Hickman is right and is upheld in his position by every honorable white man in the South.
Listen for the Midland Whistle The Midland road is undoubtedly coiulug our way at last. This week Dr. Moore paid the cash for the part of the right of way from the eud of the old grade to the junction with the Vandalia, and has the money in the bank hero to pay for the remainder as soon as he can come to terms with the owners of the land. Men are now at work putting the old grade in shape as far as J. S. Kleiser's east line, and it is the intention to begin grading next Monday, W. A. Dietrich lias the contract to build a part of tho grade. The ties and rails for the two miles are on hand, and it is expected that they will begin laying track within thirty days. This road has been creaping along towards us for many years, and we'll all be glad to see it get here. It will be of great benefit to the town and community.—Waveland Independent.

Services in the Methodist church in thiB city have closed until the latter part of the month in order to give the builders on the new organ the full time to place it in position* The organ is constructed by a company of M.ollne, 111., and costs $2,800—enough to build a small church—and is the most expensive yet purchased for any church in this city. The case will be red oak the uesiga to be in barmonjvyith architecture of the church. There will be.'wo manuals projecting one foot from the case:. The wood pipes will be of pine and spruce, an the metal pipes of zinc or tin and lead, owink 'o their size. The dimensions are to be 18 feet's, ide, 8 feet deep and 24 feet high, the inside being provided with ladders aud passage boards so that all parts will be accessible for repairs. Was It Murder?
There was great excitement at Bloomington, Friday mornlug over the arrest of Conductor Charles Arnold, of Wlibuisville, NUT A'bany, & Chicago road, cllarged with the murder*' of' William Hilburt. WASHINGTON, D. 0., Jan. 25,1981.
ALFRED SPEEB, Esq., Passiac, N. J. DEAH SIB:—I have to acknowledge the superior quality of wines of your production, notably your Port Wine, and to say I have prescribed them for patients in the past two years with uniform and satisfactory results. I have full confidence in the purity of your wines and that they are uniformly of standard strength, hence prescribe them almost exclusively in my practice. Very truly yours,

Cancer of the Lip Cured.
I suffered from cancer on the lip that defied the skill of the best physicians in the State. I had it burned ,out but the operation only made it worse, causing it to spread over more surface and eat deeper in. I finally had it burned off again and used Swift's Specific (S. S. S.) to heal it up and drive the poison out of my blood. The effect of the Specific was magical. It healed up the cancer entirely without leaving a scar as a reminder. This was four years ago and since that time there has been no sign of a return of the cancer. I will cheerfully answer any enquiries iu regard to my case.
Few ladies consider that they carry some forty or fifty miles of bair on their head the faired-haired may even have to dress seventy miles of threads of gold every morning.
Hunger jg the Best Sauce.
As a rule, a person who has a good appetite has good health. But how many there are who enjoy nothing they eat, and sit down to meals only as ah unpleasant duty. Nature's antidotes for this condition are sh combined in Hood's Sarsaparilla that it soon restoreg good digestion, creates an appetite, and renovates and vitalizes the blood so that the beneficial effect of good food is imparted the whole body. Truly hunger is the best sauce, and Hood's Sarsaparilla induces hunger. 2w-A
