Buch deep-seated and stubborn complaints as Rheumatism, liheumatic Gout, and the like, are thoroughly eradicated by the use of this wonderful alterative.
Mrs. R. Irving Dodge, 110 West 125tli street, New York, certifies:—
About two years ago, after suffering nearly two years from rheumatic |ut, being able to walk only with great jicomfort, and having tried various rehnedies, Including mineral waters, wfthout relief, I saw by an advertise* m$nt in a Chicago paper that a man had be$n relieved of this distressing complaint, after long suffering, by taking Ayer's Sarsaparilla. I thep decided to make a trial of this medicine, and took it regularly for eight months. I am pleased to say that it effected a complete cure, and that I have since had no return of tlia disease."
Mrs. L. A. Stark, Nashua, N. H., writes: "One year ago I was taken ill with rheumatism, being confined to my house six months. I came out of the sickness very much debilitated, with no appetite, and my system disordered in every way. I commenced to use Ayer's Sarsaparilla and began to improve at" once, gaining in strength and soon recovering my usual health. I cannot say too much in praise of this well-known medicine." "I have taken a great deal of medicine, but nothing has done me so much good as Ayer's Sarsaparilla. I felt its beneficial effects before I had quite finished one bottle, and I cau Ireely_ testify that it is the best bloodmedicine I know of."—L. W. Ward, Sr., Woodland, Texas.

A Letter From Utah. I'AVSON. UTAH, July 9,1890.
Editor Review: Thinking you would be glad of something descriptive of our country, and knowing how anxious eastern people are to learn of Utah and her people, I concluded to act on your suggestion at once. There is going on a great migration west from the over-crowded east People are lroklng up desirable locations in the mountain regions and many are now coming to Utah, which is afar different terrritory in many respects to what it was fifteen years ago, Tbe old lines of exciusiveness are being obliterated, the Mormons are becoming more and more liberal and Americanized. The school and church have been and are doing a great work in bringing about a change in the state of affairs that was, to draw it mild, unpleasant a few years since. Gentiles are coming in by thousands and are finding tUe country a good one. I want to say that much has been said and written about Utah, so that the territory is known pretty well the civilized world over, but what has been published has not always been of a character to carry with it a very favorable impression regarding this wonderful country. Whatever the necessity has been for this wilting about Utah, I have nothing to say. My purpose in addressing the readers of THE REVIEW will not be in keeping with the usual order of things in this line. I propose to give some facts relating to and descriptive of this wonderful territory—wonderful on account, not only of its history, but for the grandeur of its scenery, the lovely climate, the fertility of the soil and the great variety and extent of the native resources found in all sections of the country. What first arouses a stranger's admiration on entering tbe country is the sublime scenery of mountain and valley. What grand heights rugged and enow-robed! How beautiful the green and productive low lands 1 Take for example the Utah Valley here is one of the iovliest spots on which the bright sun shines.
('If
the traveler enters the valley via
tbe Rid Grande Western Railway, as the train rolls out of Spanish Fork Canon, what a scene meets the view! Before the enchanted gaze is the most picturesque vale in the west, carpeted with fields of grass and grain to the north and south for miles beautiful towns are seen nestling at the foot of the eastern bills accross the valley west is Utah Lake, "Half drowned in sloepy pcace it lay,
As satiate with the boundless spray. Its clear depths yield of their far heights and hue." It is tbe largest body of fresh water on the Pacific slope—a hunter's paradise for fish and fowl. Around all this pastoral scene run the lofty mountains, snow-capped and pointing their gigantic spires 10,000 ieet heavenward. The climate is wonderfully salubrious and the soil as wonderfully productive.
It is natural that the traveler should want to know something of the resources of the country. The surrounding hills are store houses of mineral wealth—gold, silver, lead, iron, coal, graphi, gypsum, marble, asphalt, various kinds of building stone and all existing in limitless quantities. As to agricultural crops, they are simply astonishing. Harvests are early and bountiful beyond belief save by those who have practical knowledge. A month since the fir6t cutting of alfalfa hay was in the slack and there was from two to three more cuttings to come. The wheat fields are turning golden, ready for the sickle. One of the most attractive features of the Utah Valley is the great abundance of pure water, flowing in grassgrown channels from the mountains, through the valley to the lake below. This plentiful and never-failing supply of water together with the irresistably beautiful building sites have tempted artisans to unite their muscle and skill, so that populous cities aud villages dot the valley throughout its entire extent. Prominent among these is Payson, the queen city of Utah. It is a beautiful place with a population of 4,000 inhabitants. Payson is one of the most favored towns in Utah as regards beauty of location and natural resources for future development—a more iuviting spot where so many of the native elements combine to make life joyous and home happy, could hardly be found. For the tuvestment of capital, Payson offers the most promising possibilities. The town is surrounded liy rich agricultural lands aud the place itself is a vast garden aud orchard. The streets are lined with trees under whose shadows llow crystal streams from tbe adjacent mountains. There is a steady market for all supply products. Wliaty
Pay sou most needs now is some more energetf ic people and additional capital to assist If building up the town. There are numerous chauces for investmeut of money and brains, witli sure and speedy returns. At pt§p~t there is a fortune waiting for the man or com pany who would put iu a system of public water works. A never failing supply of water is withiu three mileB of the centre of town. There are also good openings for the establishment of a good weekly newspaper, au electric light plant, a lumber and coal yard, creamery, bakery and confectionery and manufacturing enterprises, aud a good doctor and lawyer would find a splendid field for remunerative practice. Real estate is cheap and living down to a minimum. The people are industrious and temperate, so that Payson is one of the most desirable towns in Utah on the greatCentral West, and home hunters can do no better thau visit the place as thej wander about the country seeking opportunities for investment and settlement. A few words as to the social status of Payson.Whatever has been the history of the past, society here is now pretty much as it is elsewhere. Though the Mormons predominate numerically, they unite with the Gentiles iu all iflovements tending to the improvement of business Interests and the enlargement of public prosperity. Already Presbyterian and Methodist churcheB and schools have been established, with capable and energetic pastors and teachers in charge. Payson haB also one of the largest graded school buildings in the territory.
