W. W. Chambers is re-roofing the Odd Fellows' and Masonic hall this week with tin. C. 0. Tribbett, of this place, has hung out his card as auctioneer. Luck to you Charley.

James Walters, of your city, has two teams here hauling bolts. His coons 6ay it is awful hot.

Wheat and hay harvest and corn planting are making it a very busy time with the farmers at present.

Ira Booher and family visited at Averys Sta tion, above Frankfort, on last baturday and Sunday.

John Flaniugham, who was crippled by a

falling on him last winter, is still on crutches. Mr. Gus Manning, who is auite an old settler here, is not expected to live from one day to the next.

Jake Willson and Henry Wishard were the first to cut wheat. The wheat is said to be good in quality.

Charley and Emma McCune,of near Chicago, have been on a visit here. When only a small girl and boy they were residents here.

We were pleased to learn that Rev. Barbe, of Whites town, was nominated on the democratic ticket of Boone county for surveyor.

Mrs. George Smith and daughter, returned home to Evansville last week, after spending several weeks here visiting home hoiks.

Not less than seventeen teams are here hauling heading bolts for Alfrey, of Crawfordsville. Probably twenty men are cutting timber.

Tribbett & Kashuer have dissolved partnership in the stock business at this place, but Kashner will still continue shippiug stock.

Uncle Johu Hulet had a buyer for his large whale bone which lies in Ihe show window. It was sent him by H. C. Hulet, of California.

If some one will start a bank here, we will promise to find plenty ol men to borrow, it they are not too choice who they take on their notes,

Never in the history of this county has there been such a corn crop planted. It looks well, although it has heeu injured iu some places by the recent rains.

Two young ladies visitiug here, have been catching lightning bugs and pinching them in two and pultiDg them on their ears to make them look like diamonds.

Rev. Sphon and Clayton Kimler have been up to the lakes for two weeks fishing, but returned the first of the week and did not report the amount of fish caught.

A republican was heard to say the other day, "This state will go 20,000 democratic next fall ami the democrats will elect the next president," I think these Harrisou times are going back on a great many good republicans.

The K. of P's. will have a grand basket meet ing in the grove west of town to-morrow and a grand time is expected. Come everybody, bring your basket well filled and we will have a grand time. Rev. Johnson of Lebanon and aud Mr. Whittington, of Crawiordsville are the speakers.

We challenge any town in the county, outside of Crawfordsville, to show better streets, bettar side walks, more shade trees, better fire company, more clever business men and ladies, more dress makers, more widows aud old maids and batchelors aud good looking young men and ladies than Darlington.
