Bill Stephenson, Linden poolist, was here show night. He came to see the elephant.

Methodists and Campbellites occupied seats side, by side at the show. I Young Smith who got shot last I week is another example of foolish handling ot fire arms.

George Long has quite working at the tile kiln. The pigeon shooting match last Friday was a success. Several crack shots were present, but the birds would not fly half of the time. Perhaps they thought it wras as easy to die sitting as flying.

There area few busy bodies here who need a brick put back of their ear to teach them to attend to their own business.

Linden and ltomney boys were all over to the show and had a good time. Free gravel road from this place to Lafayette.

Several big rains have made corn fields look like lakes and corn plowing is at a stand still.

The Methodist church at this place now has a new chimney, the storm having taken the old one off.

Strawberry short cake has been all the go for the last two weeks. They are now about to give away to cherry pie.

A cow of George Long was killed by the train Sunday. Mr. Tyers informs us that he is in the gate business, and the party who stole his can get another by applying to him.

We have a crank in our village that is trying to play detective. He cut a star out of an oyster can and he thinks he is a full pleged Pinkerton.

Bill Campbell has been in business in this place for about twenty-eight years.

The gentlemen on show' night who held the conversation in the yard of a certain lady, had better not talk so the whole town can hear them.

If some good gardener would run that business here he would coin money. Let some one start it.

Bill Alston is kept busy hauling drummers to and from the train. When the people go to see a certain man just because he told them they were smart, it looks like the fools are not all dead yet.

On disbanding the procession on Walnut street, speaking by orators of the day aud recitation by Miss Nellie Nicholson will take place on the south front ot the court house from 11 to 12:30 o'clock.

At 1:30 o'clock p. m. the prize drill between Company H. and Company I. will take place on Washington etreetss, followed by a sham battle.

At 3 o'clock p. m. balloon and parachute ascension by Prof. Bob Hill from A. W. Binford's lot on east Main street.

At 4 o'clock grand display by the city fire department under the command of Chief Weidel at court house square.

At 8:30 o'clock graud dispiay of fire works at court house square, under management of Joe H. Taylor.

The following committees have been selected to award the various prizes: To the G. A. R. Posts (McPherson Post excepted) bringing the largest number of veterans, $15 flag. E. C. Snyder, Patrick Ballard, Chas. L. Thomas.

To military company performing best drill, $25 in gold to second best, $15 in gold. I. C. Hlston, W. P, Herron, E. P. McClaskey.

To the largest delegation from any township (Union township excepted) a flag valued at $25. D. S. Heath. .Tames Wright, Alex Har per.

These committees will occupy the south bal cony of the court house during tn parade, Each delegation should be headed by a banner, designated the township it represents. The jubilee singers and brass bands from other places will be given suitable places in the procession
