The Bible says, visit the widow and orphan and the sick, and make yourself useful, but don't try any schemes on them like you do in politics. The deacon makes himself very officious on Sunday before the election and the Biole sa\s remember and keep the Sabbath holy. It the deacon wants to defeat the democratic party he will have to join the party and work against the republicans, aud the republican party will come out victorious as his llluence work the couutrary »y.

James Bell, an old citizen living west of
