Dr. Zellers went to Mace this week and says the roads are getting good. Jim Smith is still in the washing machine business. He is a hustler.

Miss Effie Alexander took up her school at Kentwood on Monday last, As a teacher Miss Effie has given good satisfaction.
The literary of Hickory Corner last Wednesday night was interesting, and the subject debated upon wa3 quite enthusiasticall discussed.
The Patton school house this spring has more on rill than at the winter school. E. M. Morrow the teacher is teaching a good school.
John P. Bible, the candidate for sheriff of Coal Creek, stands a good show for being nominated. If so he will make It hot for the republican candidate.
Bristle Ridge is cc. B'dered by some as a bad place. We say that this is a superstition, of course there are some dark places as the scene of the McMullen murder which will never be forgotten, We think justice will overtake tlie guilty party.

The Rush family now occupy the houso vacated by Dr. Washburn.
J. G. Rush has located in Frankfort 'and is running a livery and feed stable.
The election passed off quietly last Monday. We elected everybody but the trustee. Doctor Washburn moved to Kewaua Tuesday and left Dr. Lapland to hold his practice here.
Most of the farmers have saved their oats and are getting along very well with their spring work.
G.eorge Rush, left for Michigantown on last Wednesday to assist his brother, Mit, in the station work at that place.
B. F. Sartrent, the night man at the station here, has gone home on a few days leave partly on accouut of poor health.
J. W, Galbreath and Robert Martin have cut down their sidewalks in front of their dwellings which is quite an improvement.
Robert Martin sold his grocery to Dick Holliday the first part of the week. Robert will collect soiiid debts that are standing out.
Bill Stephenson has secured the hall of J. C. Church and has placed his show band and pool table both up there, which makes a good resort for the boys.
Johu Davenport and wife, of flarrodsLurg, were in this place the fore part of the week attending court in the will case of James Wilson, deceased, as the trial was set for Wednesday.
Some boys in this place are iu the habit of using tobacco, chewing and smoking, which will cost them a farm if they live to be very old. This would all be saved if they would stop using it.
The people, on last Tuesday night, were alarmed at this place by the black, rolling
