Boss Brown and gang were gagged Saturday, but they will bob again and wheu they do, look out. They haven't half played their bauds. Most of the winning cards are held in reserve and will lie played whero they will do the most good.

The declamatory contest of the prize speakers from the public schools of the county will be held at the Y. M. C. A. armory, April 19. The afternoon session will begiu at 2:30 and the eveniug session at 8 o'clock, at which time the declamations will occur. General admission 10 cents, price of reserved seats, 15 cents.

Madison Township Convention.

The democrats of this towusiiip met at Linden on last Saturday and nominated the following gentlemen for their ticket: Sylvester C. Morris for trustee Levi Martin for as sessor, W. D. Jones and Joeeph Galbreath, Sr., for 'Squire Yuel Keeuey aud Martm Russel for constables. Supervisors, district No. 1, Louis AVorth No. 2, Thomas West No. 3, Samuel Miller No. 4, O. W. Stingiey No. 5, Mathew Horn No. (, John Rooney. It is a strong ticket all that is necessary is the united support of the entire party.

W. AV. Haulstead and H. C. Shobe were chosen delegates to the Joint District conven tion to be held at Greencastle aud they were instructed to vote for Hon. M. J. Carroll. The following named gentlemen were chosen as delegates to the couuty convention on April 19:

W. B. Montgomery, Joel Courad, William Dunkle, of Linden: S. H. I. Thompson, Mike Woods, Cherry Grove (I. W. Stiugley, Walter McBee, Kirkpatrick.

In Newburg Is a factory which is working night and day turning out ice machines. They claim their machines will make ice for $1.50 a ton.

Delegates—John A. Clark, S. \V. Petteison and Will S ain. The ticket is as strong as any ever put up in the township and should meet with the success it deserves.

Walnut Township Democracy.

The democracy of Walutit township met in convention last Saturday for the purpose of selecting delegates to the county convention and putting a township ticket iu the field. James G. Johnson was selected chairman, and J. W. Eddinsfield, secretary Oscar Eddinsfield, for trustee, and Andrew Loop for assessor, were chosen by acclamation, ami Win. Harlow, David Sparks, John Callahan and Jasper Moody for road supervisors. No nominations were made for Justices of the Peace or constables.

Delegates to the nominating convention: John Stipes, Thos. J. Wilson, Frank Dice, W. C. Loop, S. Peck, Thomas Mclntyre, Dr. Brouaugh, A. B. Sparks, C. M. Galloway and A. J. Abbott,.

Alternate: C. Stauts, H. Merris, W. B. Dice, J. ti. Johnson, F. Hankins, Ed. Kelny J. K. Galloway, O. M. Eddingfielii, S. Coulter, Joseph Harris.

Delegates to joint legislative convention— D. Sparks, Win. Loop. Alternates—A. Finch and Jas. Robbing.

The delegates were instructed to vote for J. H. Robbins for sheriff. It was arousing convention, more spirit and animation being manifested than any convention ever held in the township, and if the ticket is not successful it will be from no lack of work on llir part of the party here.

His Name Is Snyder.

Pursuant to a call the democrats of Ripley towuseip met last Saturday aud put a full township ticket in the field. James Swe iringen was chosen chairmrn aud Allen Byers, secretary. Bent Snyder, by acclamation, was nominated trustee Willard McSpadden, assessor justices, John L. Hankins and James Keyes delegates, J. Galloway, Howard Stouebraker, M. Lannilian, Willard Fiuk, Chas. Bowers, Abe Titus. Chas. Edwards, Thos. Harp, John Compton, Joel Denman. The convention was one of the most enthusiastie ever held in the township aud it is safe to predict that old Ripley will keep np her end of tbe string. |fe| '"Wij"'
