Ida Crawford, near Orth, has lost here two children in the past two weeks. Their deaths were caused from whooping cough.

The town Marshal has in his pocket writs for several heretofore loafers about the Midland depot.
J. M. Harshbarger, Miss Eva Harshbarger, Miss Lottie Fullen and Hattie Lyle were at Waveland Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, attending tiie 11th district missionary convention.

Lou Cooper, Mouday, sold a fine black mare to W. Stain, of Colfax, for §150. Quite a number went out to hear Uev.'Bart preach at St. James Luiherian church.
Edward Booher and L. B. Moore passed through here enroute to Thorntown Monday. We have a grange organized here with a membership of eighteen active, zealous members in interest of bringing forward the principles and working of the order.
M. V. Faust and Charlie Coleman went liuntiug Tuesday and came home laden with game, just one poor rabbit that was so unfortunate as to run in range of their artillery and received a charge of shot.
Our pleasant winter term of school of nearly six months, closed last Friday. Miss C. C, Cunningham, of Darlington, was our teacher, and this is the close of her second term here. On the last day was furnished a grand dinner by the patrons of the school and the house was full of visitors for which was furnished some line music by the Clouser cornet band. In the afternoon was a literary entertainment by the scholars. An exultant tune was hail, and many more such occasions will be heartily appreciated.

Mrs. Bell, of Ladoga, visited "relatives here last week. Charles Armstrong is a hiiBtler. He moved twice in one day.
Newt. McCurmick moved to the Truitt Wilson farm last week. School closed last Friday at No. 5 with a good entertainment.
Silas Pickering is seen every Sunday evening in this community. The party at George Clark's last Friday night was a grand success.
Some of our young folks attended literary at Flat Creek last Friday night. Mrs. J. W. Perry visited her mother at Pittsboro the fore part of this week.
Charley Abbott will work for Mr. Thornburg, near Darlington, this summer. E. (). Pogue and sister, of this place, visited their uncle and aunt Sunday at Mace.
H. L. Hainkins and wife, of Shannondale, spent Sunday with his father at this place. James Robinson, a candidate for sheriff, is seen quite often in different parts of our country. Jim is a hustler, and, if nominated, will make a good race.
John Henry, Lew Allen Hrifcgs, Skaggs Morris will work for John Finch this summer. Smith Conner, of New Ross, visited his brother-in-law, W. L. Smiley, last Saturday night.
The democrats of Walnut township will mtet in convention on Saturday, March 22 at Mace to nominate a township ticket.
The graduate's exercises of Walnut township, was held at Mace last Saturday with a large attendence. The graduates were as follows: W. A. Johnson, Miss Lora B. Hauklns, Harry Freeman, Chas. E. Johnson, Win, Baker and E. W. Lowe.
