most powerful alterative is Aycr's Sarsaparilla. Young ami old are alike benefited by its use. For the eruptive diseases peculiar to children nothing else is so effective as this medicine, while its agreeable flavor makes it easy to administer. "My little hoy had large scrofulous ulcers on his neck and throat from which ho suffered terribly. physicians attended him, but he grew continually worse under their care, and everybody cxpected lie would die. I had heard of the remarkable cures effected by Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and decided to have my boy try it. Shortly after ho began to take this medicine, the ulcers commenced healing, and, after using several bottles, ho was entirely cured. He is now as healthy and strong as any boy of his age." —William F. Dougherty, Hampton, Ya.

Jourteen months old, began to have sores gather on its head and body. We ap. plied various simple remedies withou'-. avail. The sores increased in numbe. and discharged copiously. A physician was called, but the sores continued to multiply until in a few months they nearly covered the child's head and body. At last we began the use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla. In a few days a marked change for the hotter was manifest. Tho :«ores assumed a moro healthy condition, the discharges were gradually diminished, and finally ceased altogether. The child is livelier, its skin is fresher, and its appetite bettor than we have observed for months."—Frank M. Griffin, .Long l'oint,, Texas. Mr. Jasper N- Davidson on Newspaper "Tricks." FOK THE RKVIHW: ED. RKVIKW:—Under the heading "SomeTricks," you wonder is wo have ever heard of farmers perpetrating a fraud in disposing of their product). It would he a pleasure to answer in the ueuative, but it woflld be contrary to fact-i. You seem to admit that the prevailing custom of newspapers in sandwitching thoir adds with reading matter in order to cram it down the subscriber is a fraud and justify it l»y saying tliat the farmer is no better than the editor.
To my understanding there is a wide dillerance between the two. Any attempt to sell a commodity for other than it really is would be a dishonest act. And any attempt to (lo so by either the produceeror any other party who may so dispose of it by sale should receive the condemnation of all honest people. Now the newspapers of the day with a few exceptions deem it gov! policy to so place their advertising matter in the same column often sandwiched between local news, more frequently in alternate columns,no doubt to show the advertising patron that ho who reads the paper will certainly read their add. also. Now the question is does the subscribers endorse this? We should say from observation they do not.
A county paper that would exclude all the thousand-aud-one-cure-alls" that confronts it weekly and only admit legal aud legitimate adds such as a well informed aud well meaning editor should know to he to the advantage of his patrons would in my opinion increase its subscriptions largely above all ethers that adhere to the common practice. We admit the value of a well regulated newspaper as compared with the subscription price but thejdanger lies iin the fact we get that which we do not want as a gift.
The unwritten story of the too confiding invalid who has been led to patronize "new discoveries" in order to regain lost health will be remembered by hundreds of families everywhere. Then we say it is necessary for the reader to clean the grain from the chaff.

ED. REVIEW: An article appeared iu your paper a tew weeks ago, regarding the debate between fitter aud Darter on the affirmative aud Rice, Lookabill and Vanscnyoc on the negative, on the question of prohibition, held at Willow Grove. The article claimed that Etter and Darter were completely engulfed, but when it is known that one of the speakers on the negative was the author of the article, it will all be explained. I was only a spectator and heard expressions then and since from nearly every one present, and have tny first one yot to hear say that the affirmative did not abundantly gain their points by overwhelming testimony. Iu fact it is conceded that the negative did not draw out near all the points that they might have done, and tbat they did not back it up by any testimony at all. The first speaker made a regular temperance speech, except the very last in which he advocated real high license. The second one advocated personal rights without a single authority or a particle of testltnouy to back him up, just Bimply stated his opinion. The third one read tew paces from some book, which was fully met by decisions or the Supreme Court of the
United States. Etter and Darter invited them to a discussion at tho court houBe, but they utterly refused. If they feel so victorious, why uot meet thein and let the people hear tlie pro and cou of the question. The people are anx ious to hear aud Etter and Darter are ready on their part, so nothing but a sense of incompetency on the part of Lookabill & Co. prevents the agitation of the question before the public.
A Good Move.
Said an old sport and former resident of Crawferdsville to a REVIEW representative the other day "Tliat was an excellent move in the officials of your city in ordering the gambling rooms closed. The fact was there were entirely too many young fellows, boys under age, attending such places. It makes loafers and ornery men of tbetn. By closing the gambling rooms they will soon forget them aud hunt some less injurious resorts. Crawfordsville considering its size is a mighty civiljplace. In great part this results from Ensuiinger. lie is one of the most fit men for a policeman ever knew, ami whenever he goes out of office you'll find the town won't be near so well behaved. There-is not a rowdy in town but what fears him and respects his authority, lama democrat, but always voted for liiui and would do so agaiu if I lived there. If lie tells the gamblers to keep thlre places shut they will do \t, you bet."
