Only three more days of 188'J. Mrs. George Hughes is quite sick. Goldy Booher has been quite sick, but is better.
James Wilhite is the most industrious man in Darlington. Ed. Booher returned home from Thorntown to spend Christmas.
Albert Booher and family were in Thorn town ChriBtmas day. Fred. Thompson, of Colfax, spent Christmas with home folks here.
The Friends revival has closed. They had quite a good meeting. Rev. Sphond Is holding protracted meeting at Campbell's Chapel.
Daniel Shumaker, of Chisem's Chapel, was here Tuesday on business. Miss Emma Booher, of Whitestown, is here visiting her many friends.

There was a large crowd at the Christmas tree at the Christian church, A? Bas Hays, of Clarks Hill, was here Christmas jollifying with home folks.
Several have joined the Newlight church. One of them is Miss Ina Bowers. Wm. Vannice returned from Illinois Monday where he haB been for several months.
Joe Mikels, formerly of this place, but who has been west for a long time, has returned. Tom Campbell took eight premiums on his chickens at the poultry show in Crawfordsville.
Rev. Stywalt, of Muloerry, preached the funeral of Mrs. Mart. Hampton on Wednesday. $
Charley Lee, of Ladoga, put up an iron fence around Dr. Owsley's residence that is a dandy.
Miss Lena Buzzard had a lady friend to visit her this week that was born the same date as herself. •.,
James Williams returned home from Illinois last week, where he has been for several months.
We had two weddings last week. Charley Harris and Milly Guntle, William Honiker and Eva Guntle.
John Hays, wife and baby went to South Bend to spend Christmas with Conductor Geo. Hays and family.
Dr. Owsley took 29 premiums on bis chickens and eight specials at the poultry show in your city last week.
Ask Bart Griffith, of Crawfordsville, what happened to him as he came down Douglas street in Darlington.

Wes Buzzard has a baby at his house. Mrs. Buzzard and the baby are doidg well, but Wes cannot yet think he is dad.

Miss Bertha Booher, being 16 years old on the 21st, bad a grand social of sixteen of her playmates, who bad a special invitation.
Mrs. Snyder, who was called to Muncie by the sickness of her brother's children, haB returned home. Two of the children died.
Tom Eelsey came to town Monday evening all dressed up, and when asked where he was going to preach, he remarked, Potato Creek.
Mrs. Reed, of Loganspsrt, George and Ed. Smith and families, of Terre Haute and Vincennes, atttended the wedding of Mr. Griffin and Miss Smith.
Rev. William Warbington, of Covington, O., and Rev. Trotter, of Thorntown, are holding a protracted meeting at the Newlight chnrch, and are having large crowds.
Died, last Tuesday morning, Mrs. Rebecca Hampton of consumption, and was buried on Wednesday at the Lutheran cemetery. She leaves a husband and four children.

Married, at tbe residence of W. H. H. Smith, Thursday morning, by Rev. Sphond, Mr. R. T. M. Giffln and Miss Flote Smith. The happy couple went to Logansport on the morning train to visit a sister of Mr. Giffin's, the well wishes of many friends going with them. May they live long and bappy together is the wish of your humble scribe.

Our new past master Staley is very accommodating and treats everybody alike. Our schools have a vacation for two weeks giving everyone a chance to enjoy the holidays.
William Dickey and Mies Sarah Russell were married Saturday, They have our best wishes.
W. M. Howard has been home over a week on account of sickness of &s mother, who is better.
The Clover Leaf .section men got Christmas thrown in and did nothing except to go over the track.
M. W. Rush has taken a day office at Donelson 40 miles this side of St. Louis on the Clover Leaf.
Mrs. Jane Stoddard and Grandma Wilson are sDending the holidays among friends in Pulaski county.
Country correspondents come on with your news. That is what makes the paper more eagerly sought after.
The subscription list from this place has been enlarged and a good many have signed for this democratic organ.
The Christmas tree was loaded with presents for the little folks and some grown people got some fine presents it was a valuable tree.
This week closes the soliciting for the premiums for this paper. Tuesday next will tell who has had the best luck in getting subscribers and collecting money for the same. It is hoped that ilie agent at this place may not be left.
All communities have its old notioned people and it Is a good thing that everybody does not see alike. Some people will not patronize home papers yet they always manage to get the news that is published in the county papers, that is. steal and spong knowledge.
Most people here that read the Hog Heaven letters in this and the Journal have come to the conclusion that they are one and the same person that writes for both papers and if they meet in deadly conflict that one will commit suicide. Give us the news without the slang please Mr. Scribe the news are what the people want.
The New Richmond scribe gave Bro. Bennett a dab in his last week's letter about the pool table here. Now we will say that Bro. Bennett never played a game of pool in his life and says he Is too old to learn now. Please do not try to make the many readers of this paper believe that Bro Bennett is a pool player as he indulges in no games of any kind.
