The nice weather we have been having this month, is only fulfilling the scriptures, as the bible says, "The time shall come when we shall only know winter from summer by the leaves on the trees."

William Alston and Lew King did business at Ladoga last week. Tom Lynch and Lew King attended Center church Sunduy night.

James Wilson and family spent last Sunday at Mrs. MeClainrock's. Carey Kellison and Otis Miles, of Mt. Olivet, called here last Thursday.

Mrs. Kate Goben had the misfortune on last Saturday to lose her gold watch. The ciphering match at this place on last Thursday night was well attended.

Joe Hannen and Sarah Marrow were married on last Sunday evening at the Center church. Henry Tomlison has returned home from Indianapolis where he has been for the past week.

A Christmas tree by the teacher at Ne. 6 was given the pupils Tuafsday evening. Grant McDowell and Miss Sloper attended literary at Yankeetown Wednesday eve.

Hannlble Trout and D. E. El more shipped a car load of hogs to Indianapehs last week.

C. A. Elmore is practicing on the "Doxology" to be sung at the literary New Year's Eve.

If the town of Darlington failed to have a sensation once a week, people would think it strange.

The Christmas tree'at Kinglesly chapel was a success in every particular—big crowdjand many presents.

A. D. Kellison was the recipient of a fine Christmas present from his school. He desires to thank them for it.

Miss Lulu Trimble gave an entertaining recitation at the literary Tuesday night. She is an elocutionist of rare ability.

David Crowder always feeds his hogs before he starts to church in the afternoon, for he says they have all goue to bed before the sermon is over.

A. B. Caster, J. R. Courtney and one other of the Ananias club killed a wagon load of rabbits one day last week.—they say—Caster seldom misses—the truth.

The celebrated Alderny owned by Elmore, Trout, Craig and Millner, was sold this week to a fancier of that breed of cattle for a good sum of money... Mr. Trout will go to Canada soon to purchase another of the famous breed.

The Yanketown literary society has an unusual interesting programme for New Year's Eve, consisting of recitations, dialogues, vocal and instrumental muBic. The question for discussion is, Resolved, "That the signs of times indicate the downfall of this republic."

James R. D. Hanna visited Sherman Trout this week, and while Sherman was showing him r.r.^und over the farm, James was fascinated wit a the beauties of rural life and thought to make a brilliant display of

knowledge of agricultural affairs, so he broke fourth in the following strain: "I am very fond of fruit, especially the potato. I should like to examine the buds of your potato trees to see whether they are winter-killed or not." A voice from the gallery cried: "What's the matter Hanna?"
