THE REVIEW.

NJEW RICHMOND.
The saw mill is running on full time and doing well considering the scarcity »f timber. •Dave Young sold his two-year old turkey at this place a few days ago that weighed 80 lbs. Who can beat it?
Bill Alston sold a fine lot of fat hogs to buyers here last week. The average was up ward •f 300 pounds we learned.
Some nice Sunday school boys of Linden •pent last Saturday night here but did no Sunday school business it appears.
A blessing to this vicinity it would be it all the tattlers were compelled to repeat tbe talk to the face of those they slander.
The white rabbit craze has struck our town and every body wants them. Several of the jumpers have made an appearance.
There is talk of several new enterprise being started here soon, but wind is plenty and talk is. cheap, so we will wait and see.
Tom Foster

he prefers Cleveland prices
to Harrison's. He then got $5 per hundred white $3,25 is the best figures for porkers. Dick Bible we are beginning to think, does not want the sheriffs office. He does not set up the cigars worth a cent, or Is it time yet, Dick?
The butcher shop of our town is doing a good business, and those who thought that business is a failure In our town are mistakMl.
William Campbell will reclve from eastern markets In about six weeks some late styles of-pants and other goods which he will make up at very low figures.
Chas. Woolever is doing the blacksmlthlng for our place and he knows hew to treat his customers, and will not insnlt them because they differ on the political questions.
George Clough is shipping a good many hogs and paying the enormous sum of three dollars and twenty-five cents per hundred for them. These are good Harrison times.
James McUillam's little son living north of Sugar Grove met with a serious accident. He was run over by a wagon loaded with corn, and at this writing is not expected to live.
Tbe citizens of this place and vicinity donated enough te Mr. Burk of this place to build him a nice little house. Who says there are no charitable christians in and around New Richmond?
Tom Florer, wife and son, Tippecanoe county's treasurer, visited at Wm. Campbell's last week. Mr. Florer says it is hard work to count money, especially when it belongs to other people.
What's the matter with Crawfordsville taking the pump handles off? Is it saloon keepers work? Certainly it can not be Mike Sellers' work, as he cannot tell bis customers now'to go to the "bump."
We have a man in our town who never tells the truth. A few days ago he toll.' wmething thinking it an untruth, and when he discovered tliat he had told the truth, he walked two miles to rectify the mistake.
When notes count for any thing, some people we know of would be well off, and if certain men we know of would let up on tbe ardent, their noses would be a shade pailer. This is for all it hits and no one in particular.
The democratic party Is quit? jubilent since the election and claim everything in sight and in the future, while republicans are downcast and say, "well, times are not so good as we thought they would be it Harrison was elected."
Some of our Nimrods are putting in the time hunting and have been known to make as high as fifty cts. a diy at the business while corn buskers are in demand at one dollar per day, but that is work and work don't go with those chaps.
Farm hands who have worked in this vicinity for years are taking the notion to go to Illinois to work. They 'Claim they can get better wages and better treatment than they can here, and a good many are tired of being worked so hard.
The gravel roads are being badly cut up and are getting worso every day. We havfi a man hired to repair them and be does not repair theui worth a cent. Not a hole on this end of tbe road has been filled so far. The work goes on the south end.
The Gypsy band has Btruck this place and pitched tbeir tents near Coal Creek. One of our bloods got too much boose last Sunday and had his fortune told four times, and was trying to strike up a bargain with one of the old daines for the fifth time Sunday evening.
New side walks were laid in our town not long since, and some more were to he laid, but it was a fizzle just as the schemers of the concern wanted it to be. If sidewalks are to be put through the town, it will be done by those who live along the line and not by outsiders.
The readers of this paper in this place like the paper very much, but a great many think if a little more of the doings of some people were put In tbe paper, it would make the paper more newsy and besides suit tbe people better. A great many people like sensations of various kinds.
Mr. Bound Hill ink slinger, let up on our barber will you, please? He is all right and likes no month in the year as dearly as he

does May, and you know he would not need such a thing as gloves in that month. He alBO says that December will never compare with May, that old nong to the contrary.
Wm. Campbell says he has waited now on some bills due him for two years and will leave all accounts not settled imediately with the Esquire at Wingate for settlement. Those who know they owe him had better call immediately and pay up, or cost will be added to the accounts without further notice. It is business this time.
Enoch Tyler, a republican blood, living on Bristle Ridge one year ago, about this time, or a short time before, was seen going through the streets of this burg covered in a big cage with a sheet on which the word, Protection, was written. Enoch at the time was getting $20 per month for bis labor. We are informed he is now getting $18 per month. So Enoch got his Protection.
A letter was dropped In the Colonel Burford & Son post office a few days ago by a lady, and in a few days the lady went to the office thinking she would get an answer when she saw the letter she had written pasted up for the view of the public. To say that woman was mad is putting it rather tame, and it is enough to make any one mad to have a public office conducted In that manner. We hope the great republican party will get its fill of the way that party conducts things by tbe the next election, and we don't think they will vote in such men as Colonel Burford & Son to conduct it.
LINDEN.
J. L. Church has bought the property of F. M. Bales. M. E. Washburn started last Monday in search of health.
The pay car did not come along last week on the Clover Leaf. Several of our citizens were In your city last week on the Ward trial—Ward vs. Ward.
Frank Bales returned last week. He has been plastering in Clinton and Boone counties. TcAmps have found out that this place is not headquarters for them which we are not sorry of.
From present indications we will Lear of a nuptial entertainment ere the leaves put forth again.

C. W. Newkirk and wife had visitors over Sunday, a sister and her husband of Mrs. Newkirk.
On last Saturday night some fellows were filled with the abominable extract of corn, and were very noisy, but no one was hurt.
Joseph White met with an accident last week jumping off of a fence on a rusty nail, running it through his rubber boot and almost through his foot
The new house of Theodore Stogden will be inclosed this week and plastered at once as be is anxious to become a citizen of this place before the New Year.
E. P. and W. E. Washburn were in White and Pulaski counties last week among friends. JE. P. bought property at Havana where he will move in the spring.
It is surprising at the applicants for the post efflce at this place, as the post master has had poor health and is going to winter in Colrado. Some one will have to have the post office.
On last Sunday while there was preaching at both churches, tbe boys and young men of our place played ball in the pasture near the Junction, hallooing as theugh it was a week day.
One man in our town has plowed his garden with a good coat of manure. He proposes to raise whatever he plants in the garden. He is about right Ask Jeff. Rueh who it is.
Persons sick at this place are improving at present There are so many doctors here, we wonder how any body can get sick. We think the doctors will have to look up seme other business—insurance agency would be a good selection.
We see the Hog Heaven scribes of the Journal and tills paper have not killed each other yet at last report. We do not think there is any danger of either of them hurting the other only on paper.
The Clover Leaf folks are doing a good business as they ate hauling long trains with heavy loads. They are not done hauling gravel as they took our section men from here east to unload giavel where needed.
We have two drays now in our town. The old man Bales runs one and J. G. Rush tbe other. Draying will come down irf^'rice is our supposition, for each will want to do something—like insurance business.
On last Saturday night not only the boys and men from the country were full of "red-eye," but many who live here were loaded with the same. About 10 p. m. all was quiet except an occasional yell from some who was cooling off.
The young preacher, W. G. Vollva, from Merom high school in Sullivan county, was here on last Sunday and gave us a good sermon. Also in the evening he preached to a crowded house. He will be back the 5th Sun' day Iq December.
We see that J. S. Bennett is an agent for the REVIEW, SO make np your mind to subscribe for he will be around to see you. Get the price ready for he will take no name without it. Republicans who wish to know what the democrats are doing, should subscribe at once.
