Wm. Rider lias been very sick this wesk. Scott Swisher, of Yountsville, will move here the first of next week.

Several cars of stock and grain have been shipped from here this week. Considerable graveling by donation is beiner donjon the Wayuetown and Wingate road.

I

Abetter corps of teachers never taught in our public school than the ones now filling those positions.

Charley Sayers, old Wayuetown boy who has been in business at Wadena, has sold the same aud is now keeping books for a firm in Frankfort.

If the Crawfordsville Star, Journal, Review and Argus News would quit their quarreling, they would, iu all probabilities, please their riders much better. Too much jealousy is the main cause. [So far as the Review Is concerned, the above squib will not apply. We have adopted it as a rule to never mention a local cotempoary whenever it can be avoided, either in a complimentary or abusive manner, and have seen no reason to violate it. The "Baltlwinsville Bugle" style of Journalism, speaking for our selves, is obsolete.]

WAVELAND INDEPENDENT ITEMS.

The ladies of the Methodist church will give a festival in Dietrich's new carriage works, Thauksgiving night.

Col. J. H. Burford stood up to his knees in the cold water of Sugar creek all last Saturday and only caught two little bass.

Dr. J. P. Russell's brother, a hardware merchant of Pleasant Hill, Mo., visited him last week. They had not met for many years.

Postmaster Dietrich cannot get a supply of stamps. He has been borrowing from neighboring offices, but unless a supply comes soon we will have to Btop writing.

The cry of "in-o-r-t" and the ring of the trowel have ceased. The bricklayers have finished work on both the Dietrich building and Canine fc Dee's livery stable, and we now have two more handsome and substantial buildings in town, and a likelihood of several more next season.

Mrs. Ruth Crooks was granted a divorce from James 0. Crooks, Wednesday, on the charge of failure to provide. She was given the custody of the three children, and $150 alimony. Her ex-husband is now in the poor house. About two years ago he bought territory for a patent washing machijjjp, giving his note, secured by mortgage on his property for the same. This venture was unsuccessful, aud, added to domestic troubles, drove him insane. He was taken to the hospital at Indianapolis, but in a short time was sent home cured.

LADOGA LEADER ITEMS.

A heavy coat of gravel has been placed cn Main street this week. Jacob Harshbarger recently sold one hog that weighed 690 pounds, and four others that averaged 450 pounds each.

George Warfel, of St. Louis, visited his brother Frank here for a few hours last Sunday.

Epperson fc Dodd have put in a new jointer at the heading factory. This makes five in all and will add much to their facilities.

It Is rumored that three of the ladies now teaching in our public schools will get married next spring but then rumor can't be counted on kt. accurate.

The report that Dr. Donaldson was dead proves to have been wholly unfounded. He writes to a friend here vigorously denying the report of his death.

We announce with pleasure that Elder J. C. Ashley wil not leave Ladoga as has been his intention. The officials of the Christian church have employed him for another year.

For several days past there has -.been encamped on the commons just south of town a large band of gypsies. Like all others of the same name, they are a tribe of vagabonds roaming from place to place.

All hunters will do well to read the notice in another column of this paper signed by thirteen farmers owning land near Ladoga. Many others have "posted" their farms.

George W. Harshbarger, on Saturday last, sold to William Johnson, 40 head of 8-inonths-lambs that averaged 98 pounds each. They were afterwards sold to Trout & Cline of Crawfordsville. They were pronounced the finest lot of lambs that have been raised in this country.

Slipping Past the Palate,

without nauseating those who take them, the little sugar-coated Granules, known all over the land as Dr. Piercla Pleasant Purgative Pellets, produce on effect upon the bowels •ery different from that of a disagreeable, violent purgative. No griping or drenching follows, as in the case of a drastic cholagogue. The relief to the intestines resembles'the action of nature in her happiest moods, the impulse given to the dormant liver is of the most salutary kind, and is speedily manifested by the disappearance of all bilious symptoms. Sick headache, wind on the stomach, pain through the right aide and the ahoulder-blade, and yellowness of the skin and eyeballs are speedily remedied by the Pellets. One a doi

Keep it as a Family Medicine. Mr. J. J, Bradley, writes from Harrison, Ga., under date of September 22, 1889. Swift's Specific (SSS) has been freely used by my family with the beet and happiest results. A half dozen bottles entirely relieved my sister of a severe case of scrofula. My wife baa frequently found her blood purified and her health improved by SSS. I also had ajjgrofulous affection that has been entirely enred by taking a few bottles of Swlft'dkpeclflc (S.S. 8.)

Painful Boils.

About three years ago I was troubled with poison in my blood, very irritating and painful boils breaking out all over my body. For two years I suffered with them, trying all sorts of remedies, and doctors prescriptions without avail. Becoming disgusted with doctors, and medicines I had used up in that time, I concluded to try SSS and the result was far beyond my expectations. A fow bottles left me in better health that I had been since childhood. I consider SSS the only medicinS that will thoroughly purify poisoned blood.
