Wes. Howard, the barber, is doing till the barbering for our place at present. He does his work well and all go away satisfied that Wesley keeps a sharp raisor.

The republicans must lie in poor staudiug when they let the democrats elec.t a man who, but recently was in the peuiteutiary. One dose of Harrisonism has done the work.

The scribe for the REVIEW, who is continually writing about some one doing wroug, should take a drop on himself, and look back thirty years ago at some of his actions. (juail that were almost extinct by the continued coid winter of '85, are becoming more plentiful, but it will be sometime before gaine.oi: that kind i* as plenty as in day's gone by.

Mrs. Koyster, a widow from Louisviile, Ky, is lalkiug of starting a hotel at this place. '1 nere is no doubt room for another, as competition is the life of trade in every line of busi-

Old Joseph Galbreath, one of Linden's oldest citizens, init-sed the train aud walked from that plac'J to this aud back one day lust week. Some young men would not do that aud do as little grumbling as the 0U1 man did.

Ye editor of the KEVHiW should give notice before coming to our town and folks could be at home, but Bill Alston kuows all tlio ropes and could show you the elephant as well as any one you would meet in a wenk's travel.

The Masonic- Brethren of this place, went to Linden last Saturday night, aud we hear that the society had purchased a new Billey goat for the occasion. We learn that members of Crawfordsville also brought a Billey with them.

M-:\V ICICIIMONIK

We were iuformed of a meek and lowly follower of the Savior using cuss words the other day, that were not strictly In accordance with his declarations last winter. Don't hold to

the dog's tail aud ruu with the rabbit, is our advice. When some people are indebted to some people, it is like pulling teeth to got it, but the moment some 0110 owes them, they will dun them the next day if a half chance presents its self. This is the observation taken by your scribe.

The Hog Heaven scribe makes the fur tty about right. He writes good letters, but we bet he has some neighbors whose toes he tramps, who, of course, are his enemies. If you give the news you are bound to hurt some one's pedle extremities.

Mr. Boylan, of Sugar Grove, drove to town in his carriage and tied his horse near the railroad. The train coming scared the horse and it'ran off, and, after kicking the buggy to pieces, it went behind and finished the job by kicking a hole IU the back part..

I)r. Washburn, of Linden, one of the best doctors in the State, patronized our tailor to tiie amount of a new suit of clothes last week. The doctor kuows a good thing when he sees it, aud is bound to be on the top round of the ladder before many years roll around, r:

If merchants of any town want to dtive trade from the town, let them combine to sell goods at one price. That will do it quicker than any thing else in the world, and, if some we know of, will do their own business and not set prices for others they will succeed better. fei',

Jim Garett came to town Sunday 011 a bicycle. He could not make the thing work, and, after trying to ruu two or three horses, and two or three cows, he left town walking aud pushing the wheel. Jim seemed too crooked for the wheel or the wheel too crooked for Jitn.

James Stallard has been granted a good pension with a big back pay. Jim is one who deserves a pensiou if there ever was a soldier that did, and some of the big healthy pensioners we know of, should be cut short so that deserving people, like Mr. Stallard, could be helped.

Our school is going right a long with Mr. Henry as principal teacher and Miss Eva McCulloin as teacher for the little folks, aud they all like her. She is teaching them very fast. The school has about 45 scholars now aud will run up to CO by the first of the coming month.

William Campbell will give a grand ball in his new room when completed. The Lafayette string baud will furnish the music and a graud time will be had. The notice will he given through the REVIEW when it will be. None but those holding tickets will be admitted in the hall.

Tom Patton, our enterprising hardware merchaut, has a fine hardware store and sells his ware cheap and people should leave their money at home who go to other places tor such articles, and not make our town a jack in a pinch and only patronize it when in interest of a loug time credit.

Yes, Mr. Editor, every scribe liashis enemies and Ihe reason is this, some one gets his low down business ventilated, and that chap is sure to be an enemy to the writer who wrote it up. That is the case here. People should not get mad at having their deeds published, for it only makes it worse.

James Cooke, who has lived for something near fifty years 011 his farm south of this place has rented the same and moved his goods and chattels to this burg to spend the remainder of his days in quietude. His house is near the church of his choice, and he will he a regular attendant of that church now.

A letter was found not long ago 011 the street of our burg, and mit wiif some very nice advice to married men. The letter was from a young lady of this vicinity to the married man asking hitn to secure a divorce from his wife and marry her. Wonder what the wife would say were she 011 to the racket? We do not want all the women to suspicion their husbands by reading this, for all are not guilty.

A young tnau 011 last Sunday, with a principle beneath that of the devil, took his knife and deliberately defaced some of the wood work in the new building being erected by Win. Campbell. The party is known, and, if he doesn't get a return of the compliment, the writer will be badly mistaken. Those knife marks will cause him trouble not thought of,

A party of Round Hillers went through our town on their way to the river 011 a fishing tour. They returned the next day with a lot of hickory shad. Every fish guarranteed to contain two thousaud five hundred bones, not counting backbone and ribs which they politely informed the people were bass, but being acquainted with stickers, the good people did not bite, and few fish were sold. The Round Hillers had to take their fish to other markets.

We hear considerable talk the way our post oliice is kept, and when we see people with mail that does not belong to them, we are led to believe that people have a cause for grumling. Last week several persons whom we know to be subscribers of the REVIEW failed to get their papers while others who are not subscribers had REVIEWS reading them, aud the question is where did they get them'' Your scribe had to borrow a paper and he is satisfied that some one, not entitled to it, got his paper. 0 the Lord! give ns a post master that knows his A, C's.

Your scribe received a Ir.rge roll of papers from some where, God only knows, aud it is terrible to lead them. They say that the late school law is a farce and the books sold by the State, is a swindle. They can send all the circulars they wish, but when a man can buy double the amount of books for the same amount of money, it will take more argument than these circulars contain to convince the dear people that they have been swindled. By the way, who is the party sending out these circulars, and why are they so interested in the dear people? We think we smell a good sized rat uot far oil.

"Cascj's Troubles" at tlie Jlollis StreetWe were disappointed with the play last night. We had expected to see only a real river, and donkeys aud dogs. The river and arinimals were on hand, as was also a most beautiful play, teaching a splendid moral. It was a sermon iu colors. Miss Kennedy, who, by the way, is the youngest aud most talented little lady it has been our privillege to witness since the halcyon days of Lotta aud Maggie Mitchell. She is destined for a high place iu the profession if tallent aud merit will accomplish it. Mr. Kelcj's comedy work was a re lier from the horse play which has lately taken possession of our stage, and the comical duets rendered by Miss Kennedy and himself were demanded over and over again.—Boston Globe.
