The M. E. Church has organized a missionary society, with Jennie Finch, pres. Buella Adkins, sec. Addie Brown, treas.

Miss Rose Sperry and Mrs. Nan Taylor have returned from Indianapolis, where they have been the guests of Mrs. Sallie Williamson.

The young ladies of the Christian church will give a supper to-night. In addition to supper visitors will be allowed access to the art gallery for only five ccnts extra. These ladies merit a hearty support.

LINDEN.

A good rain fell Sunday night. J. W. Ualbreatn is in very poor health. Our post office will soon move near the drug store.

Winter apples are not very plenty abound here. October conies in like it would be warm and pleasant.

Corn cutting is about done and the usual amount iu shock. Johu Pane, of Charleston, 111., was at this place on Monday last.

There is talk of J. L. Church building a business house in our place. It he does work will begin this week.

It makes no difference how hard money is to get some people will go, and they always have some money. AU

The new dwelling of J. W. Galbreath will soon be ready for the plasterers, and is a graat improvement over the old one.

As winter draws near the heating stoves are put up. See that your stove-pipes and flues are all right and save your house from burning.

Lots of drummers stop at this place and hire rigs to drive to other towns, as neither of the roads, run trains t« suit all the travel, aud they must see their customers.

J. G. Rush gives possession of his livery business oil next Monday, and will also give up a part of his dwelling house to the Allen boys. The livery business in this place pays well.

The pay car came along last week and left the usual amount of cash. Some of the boys rattle the daddy dollars pretty loud and are independent while they last, but are not trying very hard to make any more, nor will not until their pockets are empty.

No wonder people have a hard time to make money farming laud that is ditched under the late laws, as they will fill up iu the three years so the tile ditches have no outlet. Some that were made three years ago are little better than none. But there is money iu it to somebody, and a little change in the law might be a good thing for those that pay for it.

HOG HEAVEN.

Jed Snyder ib working in town. Honce Myers is threshing clover. Farmers are through sowing wheat. Bill, we will meet you on the Sold of houor. Choose your weapons.

Wesley Snyder is roving around with the Black Creekere once more. Rev. Snyder will deliver his first sermon at Mt. Zion on Sunday at 10 o'clock a. 111.

Uucle Jim Mclutire smoked "twofers" aud saw the ball game iu town last Saturday. My stars! boys, why don't you get up a dramatic company More action and less talk.

The Journal's Hog Heaven writer should keep out of the country. Cows are fond of green things.

James Zook and Miss Daisy Ellis went to the Shades last Suuday with a party of Hog Heaven folks.

They say the Journal correspondent is getting bald headed. Perhaps that "woodpecker" has been into his hair.

Hog Heaveners, do not lei the Supervisor warn you out more than three tunes. You might come out delinquent.

Johu Miller has mado a dagger with a teurnch blade. He intends going west to stick Indians. He hungers for blood. He can have it if he will meet us in Sugar creek hollow next Sunday night at 12 o'clock.

Keutuckey Tom, well known here, made a flying leap from a flat car some time since. He has just recovered.

We would mention the Journal correspondaut's name but you all kuow who he is. You have seen him at the "literary." He has no epithet. This mendacious, nefarious nugatory is hardly worth our tune, but if we ever catch biin his old frame will be so mangled that his old dad will not kuow hiin. They will have to cart him off to a lazaretto. I

nounced incurable. Patients who are doing well under the care of their own physicians need not call on us, aa oar province is to treat those who cannot find relief otherwise. No money required of responsible parties to commence treatment.

COMMON SENSE AS APPLIED TO MEDICINE' It is well known by all intelligent observers that it is impossible for any person, no matter how highly endowed by nature or acquirements, to become thoroughly conversant with all the divisions of the science of medicine. Nearly all who have attained distinction in medicine have made some special department their life work, being fitted therefor by natural adaptation or selection, special education and experience. The doctor having devoted several years to the special study of chronic diseasfli in hospitals and general practice, and having the most recent and improved instruments for finding out diseased conditions in the organs of the body, he proposes to devote the whole of his time to the practice of these specialties. He adopts the following plan, which is peculiar to the large hospitals, and is not and never has been the practice of country doctors: He carefully notee the symptoms of the patient, ascertains the condition of the internal organs, examines the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat by tho most approved instruments and methods, all of which he carefully records in his register for future reference. In this way, he ascertains the true nature of the disease and its cause. Knowing the disease, ho knows the changes it prodnces in the tisanes, and, knowing tho changes, ho checks them with specific remedies, and places his patient on the high road to recovery. When sick people consult him he readily tells them whether he can cure or help them, or if they aro beyond hope.

SCIENTIFIC EXAMINATIONS.

The ozaminationB are in accordance with anatomical and physical science, as ho will convince the most skeptical. By an examination he will convince anyone of the nature and extenof disease, amount of danger to life, and chance of a perfect cure. Believing that science is truth and "truth is mighty and will prevail" when known, and knowing that disease can be enred with positive certainty, he invites the afflicted to call and receive advice free and be cured of their diseases. There is no subject that requires so much study and experience as tho treatment and cure of chronic diseases. The astonishing snccess and remarkable enres performed by him is due to a thorough knowledge of the structure and functions of the human system, and the cure of diseases by their natural remedies. Let those given np by others call for examination. He has successfully treated the following diseases since his arrival in this state: Eye and Ear diseases, Chronic Diarrhoea, Chronic Inflammation of the Womb, Chronic Inflammation of the Bladder, Painful or Irregular Menstruation Fever Sores and UlcerB, Incontinence of Urine, Tape Worms, Crooked Limbs and Enlarged Joints, Spinal Curvatures, Club Foot, Hip Joint Disease, White Swelling, Discharging Abscesses. Barrenness, Nervousness and General Debility, Impotency, Diseases of the Kidneys and Bladder, Leucorrhea or Whites, Blotches, Pimplee, Skin Diseases, Dyspepsia, Constipation.Dropsy, Cancer, Epileptic Fits, Erysipelas, Gravel, Goitre, Gleet, Gonorrhoea, Hydrocele, Heart Disease, Headache, Piles, Hysteria, Syphilis, St. Vitus Dance, Chronic Dysentarv, Fistula in Ano, Hernia or Rupture, Ovarian Tumors, Paralysis, Prolapsus Uteri, Bronchitis, Asthma, Catarrh, Scrofula, Consumption, Chronic Coughs Female Weakness, Spermatorrhoea, Rheumatism, etc. All surgical operations performed.

CURING OF PILES guaranteed. Will give $1,000 for any case of failure. YOUNG MEN who through ignorance or tho careless exuberance of youthful spirits, have been unfortunate and find themselves in danger of losing their health and embittering their after lives may call with full confidence.

DR. RORICK has attained the most wonderful success in the treatment ot cases to which he devotee his special attention. After years of experience he has discovered the most infallible method of curing weaknesses in the back or limbs, involuntary discharges, impopotency, general debility, nervousness, languor, confusion of ideas, palpitation of the heart, loss of memory, trembling and timidity, diseases ot the nose, throat and lungs, affections of the liver, stomach and. bowels—those terrible disorders arising from the solitary habits of youth and secret practices, blighting the most radiant hopeB and rendering marriage impossible.

EPILEPSY, or Fits, positively cured by a new and never-failing method.
