Several people are talking of going to the Shades next Sunday. Bill Holland who has been quite sick is able to be 011 our streets again.

A pile driver went over the Clover Leaf Monday looking after weak budges. The elevator is doing good business and a large amount of grain is comiug to market.

Wesley Howard is barheriug the citizens of this place at the rate of one hundred per week.

An agency for a laundry is about to be started here and Wesley Howard will act as agent. Our streets should be all set out with shade trees as it would help the town to a great extent.

The crop of yellow mustard was never better and mustard plasters will be plenty the coming winter.

A young married lady iu this country boasts that her kids can play yaukee doodle on the dishes aud pans.

A snide show that showed to a lot of suckers, meeting with success, came back and advertised for another show. 1

The Italians, are raising the track and otherwise getting it in condition for the fast train from Toledo to St. Louis.

The new telegraph operator at this place is a two hundred pouuder, aud ho can send the lightning ou its erraud as fast as the fastest.

We should have a place here for a show ground as it is nearly impossible to get grounds for traveling shows to put up their tents on.

Why cau't our village organize a ladie's talking society? We have seme of the best talkers in the State aud will put them against the world.

Burglars give our town a wide berth aud while other towns are suffering from their depredations our village has nothing of the kind to report.

Jack Garrett moved to Illinois the first of the week. He left with regrets saying that he would rather live iu New Richmond than anyplace he ever lived.

The pay car went over the track the other day paying off the hands. They paid out a large sum of money haviug worked an extra force improving the road.

Moonlight croquet aud short dresses is quite facinating to some people and if something that will lay croquet in the shade, is not the output of it we miss our guess.

Those who are thinking of being candidates for sheriff had better commence setting up the cigars now as that question is being very strongly agitated for a certain party.

We are glad to see Goben looking after the county stealings but is it to stop at that? We say lift the veil from off all the stealings and do not stop with one case wlieu there are many more.

The older this country gets the less sociability and friendship exists among the people. So spoke an old aud honored citizen 011 our streets last week aud the truth of the remark is plain to be seeu.

A man who deliberately charges things to people that they never received is no better than a thief. Such a man, it is said, don't live more than fifty miles from this place and he will he caught yet.

The show to be here Saturday is said to tie a good one aud if it does as well as when here berme it will certainly please the people, as all were satisfied when it made its last appearance here some two years ago.

Dr. Detcheon is erecting a blacksmith shop ou the corner of Chestnut and Main streets. He proposes to erect a shop that will he an ornament to the town and Charley Walener will do the vulcau act to the satisfaction of those desiring anything iu that line.

The school book law is a God send for* the people who for many years have been robbed right and left by book scoundrels. Some more laws touching the trusts would he a good thing and a democratic legislature is the only hopes of such a law ever being euacted.

A fellow with a broad brimmed hat and dressed as a cow boy drove a herd of sixty or more Texas ponies throiiL'h our streets last Monday evening. He had from the sucking colt up to the long haired patriarch that roamed through the wilds of Texas some 25 years ag». ^PK'4*

We were shown an Italian's knife hy Dan Barton who had procured from one of them. It was the shape of an old reaping sickle and had a cow's horn for a handle. It is a savage looking instrument aud no doubt the Italian deserves the name of being a bad fellow with a knife.

We would advise people with seusative. stomachs not to go around a certain place iu our village unless they want to become sick looking at some love sick girls aud one or two men who should know better. A little soothing syrup for these lasses and a mustard plaster on the back of the neck of one of our old badhelors would no doubt help and probably stop them doing their love making at all hours and times of the day.

The talk of a hank being started here seems to have become stale again. A hank in our town would pay, and it would he no experiment either for no better country lays out of doors than in the immediate vicinity of New Richmond. Besides our town has grown to good proportions, and if Crawfordsville can support three or four our town without doubt could support one. Who will be the men with pluck and enterprise enough to start the balj rolling toward a bank in New Richmond.

We are in favor of churches but we have uo use for that class of people who use the church as a veil to cover up their sins ami misdeeds, which, we are sorry to say, is fast becoming ail rage the here. The. time is passed when a man or woman is respected on account of them associating themselves with the church and we would like to see some people we know of who are attending church so regular and payiug the preacher have some of their misdeeds aired in a church trial so the outside world could and would know that a better class belonged to the church than was 011 the outside of that organization. We know it would purify the church to have a cleaning up aud throw out a lot of these hangers on.
