The people are giving Auditor Goben great praise for bringing to light the fiuancial corruptness of some of our past county officials. Even Republicans who did not support him for office are giving him considerable credit for keeping liis word good.

It looks very queer that $7,500 of gravel road money Bhould disappear and no one know just where it went to. No wonder some of the democratic officials fought Gobeu for office three years ago. Things are getting to be very plain iu the eyes of all good thinking people.

If the present board of county commissioners would do the fair thing they would make those who got the money unlawfully pay it back aud show no favoritism to either party They would then be considered men of bu*ness qualifications and not so much fqfpolitics

The people in this neighborhood are still talking and trying to meddle with other people's business.

The New Richmond couple that separated, a short time ago, for the fourth time, have compromised aud are living together again.

Rev. Blakemore preached an elegant sermon here last Sunday night. Everyone came to hear him, it being his first sermon in eight weeks. He left au appointment for four wheks hence, if he is not sick.

Billy Holland is quite sick aud is considered dangerous. Wheat is coming to market at a lively rate aud we hope to soon inform the Darlington scribe that 8 cars per day are being shipped. It has not quite reached that figure yet.

The Christian church people gave an ice cream festival Saturday night and were quite successful in a financial way. The Methodists will give one in the near future we understand.

We are of the opinion that if the two churches at this place would make a general 'clean up and take the tares and thistles from the wheat they would prosper a great deal better.

Monday morning as Buck Belt was driving a mowing machine through the grass a calf that lay concealed in the grass had one of its legs cut off. The calf had to tie killed to save hide and tallow.

Our village is capped ou all sides, by people who are afraid it will amount to something and they try to keep it down. A half dozen first aud second class funerals would help thiH place amazingly.

Charley Taylor, known as Charlie Ross, has once more departed for parts unknown and left a wife aud two little childreu to the mercy of the world. He draws a pension of more than enough to keep his family but it all goes for whiskey.

The city barber shop tinder the management of Wesley Howard, is doing well. He shaves a man so easy that his customers half the time have to he awakened after the shave. There are no insects on Weslev when it comes to the bat her trade.

The party that visited Mrs. Manner's woods last Sunday evening, one a representative of Bristle Ridge, and the other a resident of this place, would do well to take some mosquito poison witli them the next time. According to reports that hug will bite.
