The Chief Remon for the great success of Hood's Sarsaparilla is found la tho article itself. On the War Path.

We met a gentlemen on the streets Wednes" day who mysteriously draw UB aside and pro claimed the startling fact that he wished to be interviewed, saying there was nothing particular to be mentioned but he had never been implicated in an interview and wanted to see the letters, John R. Robinson, spelled out boldly In priftt. "Well, what do you want to speak about Mr. Robinson?" "Oh, nothing particular, let's talk about the Maxinkuckee excursion." "You just tell the people over my name that I hereby challeuge J. C. Edgeworth to mortal combat with two beer bottles, for his outrageous management of that picnic. Why he had it so arranged that when we had all filled ourselves up with peanuts and wanted drink, there wasn't any to be found In the car, and then to add Insult to Injury he got off at a little way station and brought us in a tin can full of water. Now what do you suppose we wanted with water. Why his conduct was disgusting. We were twelve hours going and twelve coming, with five minutes at the lake to see the sights and eat dinner in. I asked Edge what was the matter, and he said the Yancould'nt afford an extra train just to take us up to the lake, but that the management waB trying to economize and had to hitch on a freight train so as to kill two birds with one dornick. Please state to the people that Mr.

Edgeworth is an abbreviated penitentiary and Bhould be allowed a day off at Joliet or some other resort for his heath and the health of hiB friends."

The lngoes Supper.

The Clover Leaf railroad is working several hundred Italians in spreading the gravel over the road. The largest colony are quartered in tents near New Richmond, and it was a RE VIEW man's pleasure to see them cooking and eating their supper Monday. Their principal dish and the one they seemed the most fond of was noodles, which was composed of a piece of soup bone boiled in water with slices of dough thrown in as a mixture. A large iron pot of this stuff consisted of all the supper a large party of them had. One big burly fellow seemed rather selfish and did not eat with the others, having for his supper a loaf of bread, two green apples and a cup of water. They cook on a small furnace dug in the ground near their tent, and only eat because It is a necessity to do so and live. They treat anyone pleasantly and are a race to be pitied.

Y.M.C. A. JJlowout.

On the second Tuesday in August the members of the Y. M. C. A. will give a banquet and reception for members only. The press and public Jwill be invited and it is thought two hundred will take part, altogether. After the banquet a reception will be held and a good time indulged in generally. No liquor will be sold on the ground and only members of the press be given the privilege of using intoxicating language. After that a reception will be tendered the friends of the association every month.

In all they must have handled fully 6,000 people, the ruBh being so great that it was an utter impossibility to afford them the best of accommodations, aud rc sensible person could have expected It. those who stood back aud observed the rush and clamor, saw the throngs of people get on the first train they came to, only to find that it was going In the opposite direction from their home, while a caller was telling where the train was going, all this had to be seen to know how difficult it is to get a train out on time. The companies' employes did all they could to make things agreeable, much credit being due Agent Edgeworth, of this city. The rush will not be repeated, as the Van folks have it arranged now to meet such a vast crowd. Fifteen thousand admission tickets to the assembly grounds were sold, aud everyone got a peep at Rev. Talmage, if they could not hear him. The lake was covered all day loug with boats, and the little steamers reaped a rich harvest, one of them clearing $300. All the hotels were crowded and the scene reminded us of a Thursday night here during fair week. Crawfordsville sent a delegation of about 100, all of whom took in all the sights and were surprised at such a pleasant place being located in our State. The trains Sunday will be arranged so that no troublo will occur. One division will start from Logansport and another from Terre

The buuimiest game of ball that was ever played in the city was the one between the Ladoga boys and the Recreation Parks at the college grounds Wednesday afternoon. For the Recreation Parks there cannot be found a brilliant play, though Galey at short stop made several gallery stops.
