Two brawling chippies, staggering and swearing with a very complete vocabulary, on Water street, Saturday morning, was a sight disgusting iu the extreme. Such characters are a stench in the public nostril and should be suppressed.

A wind pump that was used in the procession at Lafayette the 4tli was left standing on a street corner. It fell, striking Miss Lizzie Sexton, of this city, in the head, felling her to the sidewalk. She was carried into a store and re uiained unconscious for some time. Luckily the injuries were not serious.
Miss Hattie Towusley, daughter of Ed TowiiBley, was married on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock to Win. E. Tyler, of Indianapolis, at the residence of Charles Tyler, father of the groom, Rev. Mitchell, a Presbyterian pastor of that city, oiliciating. The young couple have the best wishes of all who know them.
Montgomery county owners of traction en gines should acquaint themselves with the new law as passed by the last legislature. It requires a person sent ahead of the engiue when passing along the road to warn drivers of its approach' and also requires the engine to run to the Bide of tho road aud stop until teams pass by.

Tommy Mahau died last Thursday morning after Buffering several months with that dread' ed disease, consumption. The funeral services were held in the Catholic church Friday afternoon after which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Tommy had many friondB in this city who inouru his death. When attacked by that fatal disease lie was a young man of fine form and seemingly perfect health
A German family consisting of father, moth er, daughter and son, neither of whom could speak English were put off at the station here last Monday evening. Upon inquiry it was learned that they were just from the "Faderland" and that their real destination was Rock ville, Conn., but haviug fallen into the hands of some shark at Castle Garden were sent ou' here.
