There are less building and improvements under way this year than at any time in the history of this city for 10 years past, which makes the efforts to secure natural gas that much more importaut. While all neighboring towns are striving to bring business and an increase of population we must not fall behind. Every effort and encouragement should be given to the company now seeking to find gas. It may be that, as some assert, it is a hopeless task, yet we are not prepared to believe this yet. Mauy cities have, secured gas after laboring under more discouraging circumstances and spending more money than the company ere has doue.

Twenty-Five Years a I'rlent Impressive services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church, in Lafayette, this week, being the 25th anniversary of the services as a minister in the catholic church of Father E. P. Wal" ters, a former priest of this city. Of a part of this period, during bis residence in thir city, the Lafayette Sunday Leader says: "Troubles arising in St. Bernard's church, Crawfordsville, Father Walters was sent there temporarily, until the Bishop could make a permanent selection. The people of all denominations received him so kindly that notwithstanding his recall to Ft. Wayne iu Lent, 1868, be preferred to remain iu Crawfordsville, and did remain for more than teu years. During this time he paid off an indebtedness of $3,500, bought land for cemetery purposes at a cost of $1,300, purchased and remodeled a brick Lutheran church in

Ladoga, and erected the present beautiful structure of St.iBernard's churcli, at Crawfords ville, Indiana, at an outlay of over $14,000. In 1878 financial emliarassments overtook St. Vincent's church, Logausport, and Bishop DweU' ger offered the place to Father Walters. The citizens of Crawfordsville, irrespective of creed joined in a petition to the Bishop to permit hiin to remain. Among the siguers were Gen. Lew Wallace, Hon. Henry Lane, Gen. M. D. Manson, besides the Jmayor, circuit judge and clergymen of nearly every Protestant church there. But the Bishop could not do otherwise, and in May, 1878, after teu years and four months of constant labor, Father Walters left for his new field. The outlook was uninviting but in a brief time the debt was paid off and a new pastoral residence Imilt."

An odd mixture of words, but the sufferer from constipation, indigestion, impure blood, biliousness, and other such ills, can be cured if he wills, without takiug the horrid, oldfashioned pills. These are superceded in our day tiy those wonder-working, yet tiny, little globules known as br. Pierce's Pellets. 'Subscriber's" Query nient.

THE CRAWFORDSVILLE WEEKLY REVIEW

FULLYANSWERED.

Causes Coin-

As our readers will remember, a letter was published in our colums a few days, ago signed "Subscriber" which dwelt at some lenuth uj on a subject of general interest, and which contained several inquiries which will be round answered iu the following:

To the Editor:—Several day ago I noticed a communication in your paper from "Subscriber," iu which considerable comment was indulged iu concerning the pamphlets which are widely distributed by H. H. Warner fc Co., of Rochester, N. Y. These pamphlets, as is well known, are published in order that the public may become conversant with the symptoms and growth of disease peculiar to the kidneys, aud which is, it must be admitted, the productive cause, iu a majority of instances, of other O'gauiu disordeis. The pul lis'iers of tLese pamphlets are also the discoverers aud manufacturers of the noted Warner's safe cure which is known to be the only means for the prevention and cure of kidney disease, as can be testified to iu every community. In the pamphlets referred to there appear a number of testimonials from parties who speak in the highest terms of how they have iu many instances been restored to health by Warner's Safe Cure, after having been given up by doctors to die, and attached to ihose iiatementare the facsimile signatures of the parties themselves.

I am personally aware that all testimonials published by this firm are genuine and are the voluntary statements of persons who are anxious to mauifest their gratiturde for the unexpected return of health and vigor which Warner's Safe Cure has brought them. To make assurance doubly sure, it can be added that Messrs. H. H. Warner & Co., have for years, published a standing offer of §5,000 to anyone who will prove to an impartial referee that any testimonial published by them is not, so far as they know, bona fide aud absolutely true. What more does "Subscriber" desire to convince bim, iu addition to his own statement that his neighbors all tell him that Warner's Safe Cure has doue more good for them than they have received from the doctors.

In view, Mr. Editor, of the many persons who are sacrificed daily to the bigotry and ignorance of physicians who persist in treating patients for for symptoms, called consumption, apoplexy, brain troubles, and nervous disorders, when the real cause is disease of the kidneys—which should be detected by the use of Warner's Safe Cure—I maintain that the value of those pamphlets, which place in the hands of the public the means of knowing the thurth cannot be overestimated.

Vital Wicks.

"There are three wicks to the lamp of man's life brain, blood, and breath." Thus writes an eminent American author. The most frequent derangements occur in the blood and in the liver, by which, when in healthy condition, the blood is purified. Look out for the terrible chain of diseases that owe their inception to torpid liver and consequent impure blood. When the symptoms of liver and kid ney troubles, consumption (lung srofula).bron chitis and dropsy, make their appearance, tho system is in immediate need of a course of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical discoiery. Its marvelous effects have neen tested and proven iu tho cure of tens of thousands of cases. It purifies and enriches the blood, restores lost vitality, and effectually eradicated the seeds of the worst maladies that atliict mandkind.

That Tired Feeling-

Season is here again, and nearly every one feel weak, languid, and exhausted. The blood ladeu with impurities which have been accumulating for months, moves sluggishly through the veins, the mind fails to think quickly, and the body is still slower to respond. Hood's Sarsaparilla is just what is needed. It is, in peculiar sence, the ideal spring medicine. It purifies, vitalizes, and enriches the blood, makes the head clear, creates an appetite overcomes that tired feeling, aud imparts new strength and vigor to the whole body. M-18-4

Epoch-

The transition from long, lingering and painful sickness to robust health marks an epoch in the life of the individual. Such a remarkable event in the memory and the agency whereby the good health has been attained is gratefully blessed. Hence it is that so muirti is heard in praise of electric bitters. So many feel that they owe their restoration to health, to the use of the great alterative and tonic. If you are troubled with any disease of the kidneys, liver or stomach, of long or short standing you will surely find relief by the use of electric bitters.
