There is considerable dissatisfaction in the surrouudiug towns over the ring management of affairs. Wonder if the Waveland Independent meant that "the people of this vicinity are just beginning to find out that politically Montgomery couuty is managed by a Crawfordsville ring. In this day of republican hilarity there is surely uo danger of discord. But the Independent goes one better and says there will be a racket of large proportions if the ring persists in running affairs in Waveland, Perhaps young Scott wants it understood that his papa must have the postofilce, and while he is saying this the party workers want a hand in the fight. Sliam Religion.
The Y. M. C. A. building is uearing completion and is very handsome and commodious, but as to its utility I have my doubts, as I regard tho Association as a stumbling block to Christianity ou account of its being a kind or go-between the church aud the world.
The main argument in its favor is that it keeps men and boys away from saloons and other questionable resorts but the argument cauuot be sustained by the facts. About all that can be said is that it is a kiud of fashionable loatiag place, or a kind of "genteel salvation army association."
About the only difference there is, the Salvationists make more noise, but are not able to make as big a show as the others. Perhaps it is because they are not so popular, or because they do not have the money but for religious zeal and fanaticism the Salvationists have as much as mauy of those Pharisees who spend their time aud put their money where they can be seen and heard of men.
There seems to be a tendency ou the part of fashionable professors ot religion to popularize every kiud of game, drama or amusement, uo matter how questionable they are or how demoralizing in their tendencies.
It is no wonder that sober, second-thoughted people regard the religion of such pretenders as superficial, because religion is not Christianity, neither are hypocritical pretentions worship, and with the confusion growing out of the conflicting opinions of our times it is uo wonder that the young and inexperienced think they are worshiping God, when in truth they are only idolaters.
Every shade of religious opinion is tolerated in our modern society, and the way most professors of religion talk and act it is difficult to tell where the dividing line is between the church aud the wtrld, because we find members of nearly all churches engaging with alacrity in dancing, theatre going, gaming aud eveu gambling, and many of those tilings are getting to be as pupular with many church members as some of their owu forms of worship.
It makes no difference what the reader inay think or say about the writer, the facts remain the same, and with a great many people it makes no difference whether a thing is morally right or wroug so it is popular.
I know that I have taken an unpopular stand, but if the Bible is not a fable and Christianity is what it claims to be, then I knowthat I am right, and if anyone wants to put me to the test I can prove what I say without leaving this town. REX.

Alas! how many women, though household and children need their care, are necessarily idle, because suffering from disease peculiar to their sex. To all such Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription is precious boon, speedily curing internal inflammation, leucorrhea, displacement, ulceration, tormentiug periodical pains, prolapsus, "bearing-down" sensations, morning sickness, bloating, weak stomach, nervous prostration, and tendency to caucerous disease. Dr. T. Heman Bremer, an eminent German authority says: Consumption is always due to deficient nutrition of the lungs, caused by bad blood." At the Brompton Hospital for COLsumptives, London, Eng., a statement has been published that 52 per cent, of the patients of that institution have unsuspected kidney disorder. This explains why the proprietors or Warner's safe cure claim that they have received many testimonials which they have not published, because of the incredulity with which they would bo received were it claimed that Warner's safe cure cures consumption.
But the fact is that if your kidneys bo cured and put in a healthy condition they expel the uric acid and poisonous waste matter, and prevent the iriition or the delicate substances of the lung, thereby removing the cause. When the effect is removed the symptom or kidney disease, which is called consumption, disappears, and with it the irritation, which caused it. amnmsm

Shrewd Advertisers.
Readers of the newpapers of the day cannot fail to be impressed with the fact that the inodorn advertiser Is progressive,
He is compelled to be or else competitors more active in the invention of advertising devices, will outstrip him In public favor.
The value of printer's ink, judiciously and scientifically employed cauuot be overestimated it is the medium whereby a meritorious discovery is raised from local fame to a position in the public esteem. Hence the columns of a newspaper are daily used by hosts of advertisers aud in the competition which is indulged in to attain the desired end, the reader is oftentimes amused.
The greatest of American advertisers, and it may as well be said in the world, is H. H. Warner, of Rochester, N. Y., who name has been made everywhere familiar iu connection with Warner's Safe Cure widely advertised because of its merit in the preventation and cure of kidney diseases.
By printer's ink this great discovery has achieved world-wide popularity and thousands feel grateful for the knowledge thus acquired of this greatest of modern remedies.
Furthermore, the public has been taught that disorders of the lungs, brain and heart and liver which have hitherto been regarded and treated by the profession as distinctive diseases are not so in fact, but are the atteudiug symptoms of disease of the kidneys: therefore, the consumptive, the apoplectic, the paralyic, and the sufferer from nervous disorders can be restored to health by Warner's safe cure, which will remove the true cause of the disorders by restoring the kidneys to healthy action.
The advertising methods employed by this greatest of advertisers are invariably instructive and, although the reader may sometimes be "caught" in reading and advertisement, which was not at first supposed to be such, there is nevertheless no time lost sin1,0 useful information is invariable gained concerning life's great problem.
