FOUGHT OVUii THE GOLD.
CiTEYENN!:. Wy. T.. Feb. 11.—A party oi eight Mexicans traveling overland reached this city six wicks iiyo and halted J.'ortyeif, rht hours to rent tlicir stock and refill their larrli-r They were richly dressed, splendidly outfitted and bore every appearance of bonis1 aristocrats or Castilians, aa they are called in Jlcxico. The wealth and reserve of the travelers excited curiosity and they were plied with questions as to their mission and destination. They were extremely reticent and jjavu evasive replies to their questions.
They had been jrone for some time when it was whispered about, that they were in search of old Spanish mines 12" miles north of here, which a local legend says aro very rich in gold and were operated some 200 years ngo with rude tools. Some gamblers and more especially one called "Mexican Mouto-' stoutly averred thai the travelers were hunting for the Spanish mines, and that they were guided by a map or chart of great antiquity. "Mexican Monte declared that tho chart had been In possession of the family of Don Martinez for several centuries, and that it showed every vein in the mines operated by his countryman 100 years before tho revolution.
The rich and mysterious Mexicans had almost been forgotten when George Keller arrived from the north Saturday to purchase supplies for a party of wild-horse hunters. He reported that two weeks ago he and his companions, after following for Beveral days an extraordinary fine bunch of native equines very difficult of capture, camped in the isolated locality designated as the old Spanish mine country. The horse-hunters could notresistthc temptation to do some prospecting for the abacudoned lodes. They found them, and near the entrance of what seemed the main ehaft came upon the bodies of the eight Mexicans, who had met violent [deaths. The hunters fled from the scene, but after a council decided to investigate. The adventurous Mexicans had found the Spanish Ophir, but American prospectors were in possession. The foreigners had ciaimcd ownership and a battle to the death ensued. After a terrific hand-to-hand combat, in which knives and six-shooters were the principal weapons, the Mexicans were literally wiped out. There was every evidence that at least three whites had been killed. Some of tho Mexicans had been frequently stabbed and gashed and blood was every where. Wolves had partially eaten the flesh from the bodiea Seller said the fight occurred in a canyon high up in the mountains and difficult of access. After the slaughter the Americans, who came here from Arizona late last summer, appropriated the stock, equipments and personal ell'ccte of the Mexicans and fled, presumably to Montana.
Wlieu the gambler, "Mexican Monte," heard of Keller's story he was beside himself. Jle said the Mexicans were scions of the foremost families of their country, anl their parchment chart a Government document of great value, as it was a perfect map of this country and an accurate plan of the Spanish mines, lie thinks that the American miners will return as soon sis they recover from their fright, as -with the aid of the map tliej- can easily possess themselves of untold wealth.

The Verdict Unaniincus. W. D. Suit, druggist Bippus, Ind., testifies: "I can reccomtnend electric bitters as the very best remedy. Every bottle sold has given relief in every case. One man took six bottles, and was cured of rheumatism of 10 years' standing." Abraham Hare, druggist, Bellville, Ohio, affirms "The best selling medicine I have ever handled in my 20 years' experience, is electric bitters." Thousands of others have added their testimony, so that the verdict is unauiinous that electric bitters do cure all diseases of the liver, kidneys or blood. "Another wonderful discovery has been made and that too by a lady of this country. Disease fastened its clutches upon her and for seven years she withstood its sererest test, but her vital organs were undermined and death seemed imminent. For three months she coughed incessantly and could not sleep. She bought of us a bottle of Dr. King's new discovery for consumption and was so much relieved on taking first dose that she slept all night and with one bottle has been miraculously cured. Her name is Mrs. Luther Lutz." This write W. C. Hammick & Co., of Shelby, N. C.—Get a trial bottle at Nye & Co's., drug store.

About the same time the followiug spring, 1872 my feet became sore again, as at first, and erery succeeding spring for five years brought back the condition of the disease, only each time it beit became more distressing, because I began to think it was a life-time trouble. Finally I was induced to try Swift's Specific. I took six bottles, and to-day am entirely well. A'y improvement was gradual from the first, and no evidence of the disease remains.
