We want it distinctly understood that wo had nothing whatever to do with the unfortunate incident that occurred on Jackass Hill last Tuesday evening. Mrs. General Foatherstoue issued cards for a high coffee, and most ot the elite of the town had gathered at her two story abode, when the Sheriff swooped down and took away seven prisoners, mostly charged with horse stealing. We neither gave them away nor knew that such a raid was intended, but this proves anew the folly of such gatherings. Society wants to show off. of course, but what's the use iu Collecting a crowd for the benefit of the Sheriff?—Arizona Kicker.
A lynx has been seen at diflereut times between New Market and Sugar Creek, and a grand drive has been arranged for next Tuesday to catch it and such other varmints as may be within the lines. The junction of the south and west lines will boat Freedom church. No dogs or will lie allowed.—Waveland Independent.

Dogs made a raid on Deo Moore's sheep, Sundaj night, killing and crippling thirty-five of them. The next night they got among his cattle, but were driven away. Nearly a dozen dogs havo been killed, but the depredations are still continued.—Waveland Independent.
The young Americans of this place have been carrying on a new business. They go to a house and ask if they have any cats they want disposed of, and if so, they take them out and kill them, skinniug them and selling their hides for 10, 20 and SO cents. It any of our neighboring towns have too many cats just givo the kids this idea and they will soon disappear.—Waynetown Hornet.
Wm. Burris has been trying to keep it a secret and keep us from telling the people that he was pap of a bouncing boy baby since last week, but we now mention it, and it is safe to say that Billie is the hapyiest man living iu the township.—Waynetown Home'.
The Johnson & Clark restaurant has been in a turmoil of trouble and misunderstanding for tho past week, owing to the fact that the proprietors so far can only agree to disagree on dissolution. The store is now locked awaiting agreement—Ladoga Leader.

A delicate piece of surgery was performed by Dr. Mock last Tuesday. Wm., 17-year-old son of Andrew Marshall, living at Harveysburg, has for some time past suffered from an ulceration on his right arm, below the elbow, which affected the bone. We are reliably iuformed that a citizen of Covington has made the proposition to furnish twoithirds of the necessary capital to erect a large brick hotel on the public square. Tho building not to exceed $10,000 or be less thau $6,000 iu cost. A hotel of this kind on the public square would add greatly to the appearance of the city, and this liberal offer should not be allowed to pass by. Parties will solicit some of our monied men iu a short time to as certain what can be done. Several have al ready signified their willingness to assist iu the undertaking.—Spence's Paper.
Coal thieves are making themselves very annoying to the managers of the C. & I. C. and C. & E. I. roads. They are operatiug at nearly all stations on the lines, and their aggregate stealings amount to thousands ot towns yearly Detective Hanna, of the C. & E. I., is kept busy busting this class of thieves, and a few days ago he captured thirteen of them at Dalton, a station on the C. & E. I., and the grand jury found a bill agaiust each. The stealing is not all done at night, but most of it is. When a coal train stops at a station the depredators get on the cars and throw as much off as possiblej and when the train pulls out they haul it off. The managers of the road are determined to put a stop to the stealings.—Attica Ledger.
