The Hatieaal lahlatb.

By a general agreement oor merchants and business men have agreed to close their establishments on the Fourth of July. This action upon their part is commendable and speaks well for their patriotism, and we trust will be followed by every citizen. Let the coming Fourth, hallowed by all that liberty holds dear, be celebrated by everybody.

The Ka-Klwx la Wavelaai. Notwithstanding the recent act of the last Congress in providing measures for the suppression of the Ku-Klnx-Klan. their order having no fear of His Imperial Majesty, Ulysses the 1st, mafce a descent on a couple of business houses of that Tillage on last Wednesday night. The tenements were gutted and the entire property of both establishments destroyed and the proprietors threatened with death. This is a matter of grave importance and calls for immediate action, but we have little hope that anything will be done vS bring the perpetrators of this outrage to juslicc. His Majesty, at present, is whiling the summer hours away at Long Branch, reveling lik^ a grand Turk in wine, bourbon nnd .a«t horses. "Have we a Government?' is a question that we should like some one to answer. If tfe have, let Gen. Carrington with his two fieW pieces proceed immediately to Waveland, place the rebellious berg under martial law, arrest its principal citiiens and levy a forced contribution sufficient to satisfy all damages for their lawless conduct. In the. name of '-loyalty, God and humanity," we call upon Ulysses to suppress the Ku-Klux in our midst.

Proposed Betfo&al of Fred. Grant and Ihe Piincess Beatrice. Letters received here from England put the extraordinary question seri

ously whether a marriage between the SOD of President Grant and the Prin

cess Beatrice oTJOngland might not be so arranged .as to secure the

cordiale

entente

between the two countries.

The Queen has originated the proposition, just tis she did that for the marriage of her daughter Louise to the Marquis of Lorne.. The young Princess is only fourteen years of age, and the Queen's idea is that upon the rc-electioD.of President Grant and the beginning of his second term, in 1873, the irapitals be solemnized. Young Mr. Grant would then be adopted as a BritisVsubject, and immediately.appointed Viceroy of the Dominion of Canada.

It ife her Majesty's belief that in thisfway the feelings of the three great countries ol'.America, Cauada and Great Britain could be harmonized as closely as their interests.

The lctterg-wKicli communicate this surprising proposition ate written in perfect good faith, and by persons of the highest position in Great Britain. One of them asserts that the idea really came from Mr. Seward, by whom it was suggested to the Karl

of

Muyo in

India,^and by the Ear) then taken up and communicated to the Queen through one of nis lordship's friends, Lady'Watermark, a lady in waiting upori Iter Majesty.

It is also stated that the matter was entrusted to the London correspondent of a leading Radical journal of New Yorje^who left London, suddenly for New York -abojit a month ago, commissioned to soubd the President upon the 'iiibject.r Ttiis correspondent assured the Quae's minister's that the re election of-President Grant was absolutely certain,-and thus contributed mainly to give them confidence in the scheme. The agitation now going on in favor of Greely may disturb his pia^ns. But"it may be considered certain that he has opened ncgotiationa ou tha aubject with the Dent family and with*. Mrs. jGxant.—

Last week this fellow, wliosii name is Dilks, complained to Hanlon that the lads were flipping bean#. The reverend gentlemen immediately sent for the boys to come to him. As soon as they were all in he brought forth a green rawhide and ordered the eight to strip off all except their pants, shoes and sfoiclangs, and then he began his fiendish work. Theirst boy he laid the whip'on was Master J. V. Decker, who atood it for nearlyJtwenty .minutes, when he fell to the, floor from loss of blood, which poured from the numberless cuts on his back, breast and abdomen. Three of the ':ents in the abdomen measured in length nine iuches. The stirgeon found^it^ necessary to sew themvup. The ni£t taken in hand was Master Fred Hjde, who was not whipped quite so badly as the first, probablj because of exhaustion on the part of flanlon. Young Hyde would not erjv and in consequence this wretch Hanlon struck him several times across the face, opening the cheek, and nearly catting off the end of his nose. The third was not whip ped so hard as the second, snd the fourth not so bard as the third. When he came to the fifth the monster was obliged to stop entirely. He had completely worn himself out. One of the boys ran for a Burgeon, but wss waylaid by Dilks, who threatened to shoot him unless he returned. The horrible affair leaked out, and in a few hoars *he whole school, under-teach* era and all, were up in arms and threatened their inhuman Principle with all sorts of vengeancc

Duriiig the winter, owing partly to our more in-door and sedentary habits, and partly to the decrease of insensibleperspiration from the euticular pores and) other "climatic causes,, our secretions become impaired, blood impure, liver congested, skin yellow and flabby, and when springy comes we fihd it almost impossible to fulfil our ordinary duties of life. And with opr vital energies at this low ebb we are ready to contract any of the "ills that flesh is heir to"—colds, asthma, consumption, rheumatism, ague, fever, scrofiila, jaundice, pneumonia, spring-fever, pimples boils Sc. &c.
