THE opposition to ihe ninety thousand dollar school house hat caused the council to pauae in their wild and extravagant ^cheme, which, If carried out, would ruin every property holder in tbe city. Councilman Vanarsdall gives assurance that the people will hatjs an oppoptunity to vote on the matter.
CRAWFORDSVILLE has probably about for-ty-five hundred people within its corporate limits. At present, it is ceursd with no debt, having satisfied Lew Wallace'a claim with the sale of the furniture used in the eouncil room. Notwithstanding this bitter experienee and the humiliation of being aold oat to satiefy a hungry, avaricious, and unrelenting creditor for the small sum of thirty-five dollars, its present servanta, who were elected to guard their interests, propose to plunge the city into a debt of thousands of' dollars, and create in our midst a class of wealthy bondholders, who are to be paid yearly by the tax-payers, three thousand dollars in the way of interest. Can it be that our citixens are in favor of such an iniquitous scheme to rob them of their money?
