tion.

TIIK last week has greatly improved the appearance of the wheat fields, and the prospcot for an average crop growing much bottler.

ON .Sunday last an infant child, apparently two or three days old, was found in a privy^vault at Ladoga. When found, a largo twine cord was tied tightly around the neck of the child, and it bore all the appearance of having been strangled before being thrown into the vault. About a week age a young woman, who had been living in the family of a physician at Bloomington, left (he latter town and went to Ladoga. Yesterday morning she returned to BUomington, and yesterday evening officers from Ladogtl followed her to that ylacft t»nd arrested her and took her bnck to Ladoga. She is belie veil to be the mother of the child, as it was found on the premises where the girl had been staying while in town. Tho-case is reported to be a very distressing one. The young women is the daughter of respectable and industrious parents, and is no doubt the victim of some heartless villian, for whom hanging would be too mild a punishment.
