by reference to another column, that Prof. Hodge, with whose qualifications our readers aro familiar, will open a Musical Academy on the 1st of March next, in our city. The Prof, has had several offers from larger citioB since he has been here, all of which lire still open, but he has decided to remain with us to give the people of Ctawfordsville tlio advantage of a good, thorough, musical education we bespeak fi.r him a liberal patronage.

CiuwronnsviLLE.

Almost every paper one takes up contains an account of some accident, often fatal and sometimes worse than fatal, occasioned by coupling cars in the old and awfully ilangerous way. And yet we are told by wellinformed, practical railroad men that there aro patent car-couplers the use of whichrenders the operation of coupling entirely safe. If this is true the company that fails to use the improved couplers is guilty of the most criminal neglect, and should be made to suffer heavily for all injuries occasioned by such negligence.— Terrr Haute Eiprets.

Dr. J. Bryant, of this city, has taken out patent for a car coupler, which engineers and railroad men pronounce the most practical coupler ever invented. It will be attached to the cars on the new road from here to Indianapolis.

OR CHILLS AND FEVER:

'pnE proprietor of this celebrated medicine proprietor of justly claims for it. superiority over all remedies ever offered to the public for thn safe, certain speedy and permanent cure of Ague and Fever, nr Chills and Fever, whether of short or long standing. He refers to the entire West and South, to bear him testimony lo the truth of the assertion, that in no case whatever will it fail to cure, it the directions are strictly followed nnd carried out. In a great many cases a single dose has been sufficient for cure, ana whole families havo been cured by a single bottle, with a perfect restoration of general health. It is, however, prudent, and in every case more certain to cure, if its ust is continued in smaller doses for a week or two after the disease has been checked, moro especially in difficult and long standing cases. Usually, this medicine will not require any aid to keep the bowels in good order, should the patient, however, require a cathartic medicine after having taken three or four doses of the Tonic, a single dose of Hull's Vegetable Family Pills will be sufficient.

given your worm destroyer several trials and find it wonderfully efficacious. It has not failed in a single instance to have the wished for effect. I am doing a pretty largo country practice, and havo daily use for somo article of that kind. I am freoto confess that I know of no remedy roeoinmendcd by the ablest authors that is so certain and speedy in its effects. On the contrary they are uncertain in the extreme. My object in writing you this is to find out upon what terms I can get the medicine dircctly from you. If I can got it on easy terms, I shall use a great deal of it. lam aware that tho uso of such articles is contrary to the teachings and practice of a great majority of tho regular line of M. D.'s. but I can see no just cnuso or good senso in discarding a remedy which wo know to be efficient, simply

any means to alleviate suffering humanity which I may be able to command—not hesitating bocause some one moro ingenious than myself may have learned its effects lirstnnd seourred the sole rignt to socure that knowledge. However. I am by no means an advocate or supporter of the thousands of worthless nostrums that Hood the oountry, that purport t-i euro all manner of disease to which bumau flesh is heir. Please reply soon and inform uie of your best terms.
