connected with the Indianapolis .Virrorand Smtirul, in regard to the celebrated actor,

Edwin Forrest, seem to us to be confound- jjj

•dly captious "A Sox-APPRectATivK Pkople.—Edwin Forest is playing here to thin hou«e4. His glory has departed."

Such is the Indianapolis telegi am to the Cincinnati Enquirer of Wednesday last Correct. If the audicnces were made up of such critics as those referred to. the fcoUMS must hate been decidedly thin.' "Huapty Dumpty," ''White Fawn," *'Black Crook" and other suoh plays are evidently better suited to the taste of Indlanapolitan theatre goers than anything contained in Shakspeare. Forrest should visit the "Athena of Indiana," instead of Indianapolis. Here, his grand acting would be appreciated.

Magaxine Notice.

A Model Parlor Magazine. For beauty of typogrnph, artistic"'engravings. nnd high-toned'literary artialcs, together with a large nnd beautiful display of Fashions. Demorest's Monthly Magazine is certainly unsurpassed. The January number, just received, iu addition to tha usual holiday attractions, has a fine steel Portrait of both Mr. and Mme. Demorest. The rich display of novelties offered iu the Oemorest's Monthly would seem to be enough to secure a circulation sufficient, to satisfy its publishers, but in addition we see they propose to give a very large and fine engraving to each' subscriber, valued at ?10. The Engraving alone would make a very appropriate Holiday or Birthday g-ift, but when ndded to the costly Picture the best Parlor Magazine is included, to be a monthly reminder of the friendly feeling of the giver, there is'"ccrtainly no better way of investing $3.—Address Demorct's Monthly. 838 Broadway, N. Billiard Room and Restaurant. The new Billiard' Room and Restaurant fitted upon Green street by those very popular gentlemen, Messrs. Driskell Johnson, is one of the handsomest in the State, son, the convention then adjourned. The billiard hall contains five new tables, among which is one splendid French carom table, which seems to be the favorite. The establishment is complete in all its appointments. The bar, which occupies the front room on the north side of the building is fitted up gorgeously. The mirrors, sideboards and paintings which adorn it are of the very finest.. This is presided over by that Prince of Bar keepers. Van Buren Campbell, Esq. The cookiug department is under the immediate personal supervision of Mr. Nels. Patterson, the "soonest," nnd be^t cook in the city. The eating room i« located on the south side of the building, and is- large, convenient, and uent. l:p stairs, all is always lively. I The tables ure in constant demand. A "dummy" from the first, floor furnishes all required refre-hments for the play-rs. upon application to'WM. Driskell. who has charge of the hall. The bur is stocked with 'he very best, kind of liquors and cigars, which Mr "•. will hand out promptly on presentment of the proper po.-t:il«.

ORGANS. TAILORING.

sr

That the MASON A IfAMLN Cabinet and Metropolitan Organs arc tho best in the world is proved by the almost unanimous opinion of professional musicians, bv the award to thein of •I Seventy-five (iold ami Silver Medals or other highest premium? at principal industrial competition within a few years. including the Medal at the Paris Exposition, and by a sale very I much greater tlmn chat of any similar inUruments. This company manufacture only firstclas* instrument*, and will not make "cheap orleans" at any price, or sutrei nn inferior instruinent to bear their name. Having greatly in-: I creased their facilities for in inufafturo by jhe I introduction of new machinery and otherwise, they are now making better Organs than every before, at inerensed economy in cost, which, ill nccordsancv with their fixed policy of selling always at leii-t remunerative profit, they nre! Cumn? done promptly an warranted to lit now offering HI prices of inferior work. tOI.'lt
