ELECTION NOTICE.
Have no note-? been sent to the school tell-
••fnan of threats" sent you a note asking you to take his little boy under your own control, after it had become publicly known that your assistant, of which I referred to before, was playing the part of tyrant, scourging with a ferule, pulling hair, slapping with books &c. You paid no attention to that friendly- request, only to feed your assistants' hatred with similar treatment. Without a word, your "man of threats" withdrew his child from school. Ton were mistaken when you say either of the Teacher Trustee0 you refused employment to, introduced that resolution barring you from taking ti common school into the Academy. One had resigned long before the other was President of the board. John P. Lundgren shoulders that responsibility, and further you are mistaken when you say the Trustees having become ashamed, met to rescind, and the I. 6. 0. F., moved by the ''man of threats" seht down a committee &c. The Trustees did'nt meet to rescind, and their minutes show it. Why did'nt you support fully what you said about the I. O. 0. F. This you did only partly and is incorrect. Not more than one man in the community I really desired that you should have the public school, and all could have been reconciled between you and the Trustees, the public would rather have had the money distributed between other districts than to have thrown it away in hiring you to teach the common school. You see you had "cracked the whistle" and the people knew it before you told them it was so. Had you, at this point in the play employed one of the '•Farmer Pedagogues,'" as the people desired, the "whistle" might have been "soaked in water" for awhile until it would "toot again".
As to the family, "wealthy and honorable," who only sent one scholar and he did not bear the family name. Does Mr. Stimpson wish to insinuate any thing of a black character on that family? I should think he would be satisfied with emptying his low slang and slanderous epithets on men, without casting any reflection on that boy. whose father fills a "soldiers grave." I wili say in conclusion, with the Bible, •'Learn obedience by the things ye suffer," and don't, grow wroth at the result, of your own aets is my most affectionate advice in this mv first opistle to Robert B. Stimpson.
