generous and hospitable manner in which the City Councjl of Indianapolis recieved our city authorities, and other invited guests who participated in the excursion to the capitol on last Monday, will always be remembered. Every thing that could give pleasure to the excursionists was freely and bountifully extended with an earnest and magnificent liberality. ago Mr. Samuel.Austin had a couple of fine horses stolen from his premises. Notification of the theft was immediately sent, in the shape of handbills, in every direction, and on Wednesday a telegram was received from Logansport notifying Mr. A. that the horses and thieves were captured, and for him to come on immediately, lie left in company with Mr. Wm. H. Schooler the same night, and securing the property and the scoundrels returned yesterday morning. The thieves are quite young men and are said to hail from Indianapolis. From the manner in which they managed in getting off with their booty it is evident thnt they arc green hands in the business.

The Cincinnati Enquirer. All those who have perused this sterling and influential Democratic paper, which was always good and reliable, have be°n struck with tho marked improvements which, during the past year, have been made in it, rendering it, even aside from its political character, one of the best newspapers published in the United States. The paper is worthy of general circulation. We observe that its energetio proprietors have offered premiums to the amount of tvro thousand five hundred and seventy-five dollars, mostly in greenbacks, as a reward to those who send the largest list of subscribers to their Weekly edition. In addition to this, every subscriber will receive a copy of the

Cull Tor Tentprralien Meeting:. We the undersigned, citizens ut CrawI'ordsville, in view of the alarming prevalence of the evil- of intemperance in this city, and the powerful temptations to indulgence in this vice presented by the many establishments among us, sanctioned by law, for the sale of intoxicating liquors, unite in a call for a meeting of our fellow citizens of all classes, to be held at such time and place as shall be agreed upon, for full and free consultation as to the practicability of adopting measures for the peaceful but effectual suppression of these evils, and removal of these temptations. Though long continued and zealous efforts in behalf of temperance hitherto have failed to secure the result sought for, the object aimed at is of such vital importance, and such is the urgency of the case, that the friends of this good cnusc should not for a moment yield to despondency, but by a more vigorous and eeneral rally, put down this deadly foe to human happiness, against which they feel it their duty to contend. I hereby certify that during the iRSt year I was attacked with the Ague while in Vicksburg, Miss., and used several popular patent medicines with but temporary relief. On reaching home the disease returned in a worse type, if possible, when my medical attendant ordered Quinine, in large doses, frequently as high as 60 grains per day, and which must have coat me nearly £100. I consulted Dr. Smith, of Louisville, and found he prescribed Quinine and Arscnic, combined, which I refused to take, preferring to let the disease take its course. I was almost bloodless, extremely exhausted, and pronounced with enlarged Liver and Spleen. At about this time the advertisement of Hurley's Ague Tonic appeared in a city paper, and I determined to give it atrial. 1 did so and have no reason to regret it. One bottle restored me completely, and since that time I have seen nearly a hundred cases in which it acted with equally bappy result, and would certainly recommend it as preferable to any other Tonic before tbe pnblic.
