Aerial Navigation—Anollier Flying rhino. Our notice of the flying machine '"eottMructed by a citizen of Paducali attracted much attention yesterday.

It soon leaked ont that the inventor was Mr. Orme. a member of the firm of Longstaff Si Co., a thoroughly practiole and successful business man. Many persoos called yesterday to see the machine, and to form opinions up jOn its practicability. Some jumped "ito the conclusion that it never could succeed^—there never had been a flying machine except balloons, and this one didn't fly yet. Others believed, or rathcr hoped, that the machine would be entirely successful. Mr. Orme kindly explained its different parts, and applied Meam to show their op-eration?—NVlii-ther he is successful or not, he ha» vri linly struck a new linein the inve.-cti^iiion of .serial nariga tion, and wo nr' very much mistaken if his experiments do net attract great attention in the scientific world.

The very simplicity of Mr. Orme's machine and i'.« object is a great merit. He discards entiii-ly the use of a balloon to senure buoyancy, since he believes tbat where so large a surfacc is exposed to a current of air, no pewer can be applied to a particular part, so at to secure propulsion against such currents. Ifc has shot on lofty trees, wild tqrkeys that when cleaned would weigh 22 pounds. lie believes that with equal extent of wing, and equal power, a machine can be made that will carry up as much weight as the wingB of the turkey, and not tiro as the living organism does. This docs not strike any one as impossible and it follows that if Mr. Orme can increase the size of the wings very greatly, and without materially increasing the weight of the machine, give it a hundred fold more power than was needed to raise the turkey, he may be able to give to the world a machine that will rise from the ground and support itself as the bird does at any altitudo.

The engines Mr. Omit now uses weigh 100 pounds, with two-inch cylinders and four-and a-half inch stroke. With a pressure of only 100 pounds to the square inch, .Mr. Orme belicveE that ho can make the machine lift itself. What he can lift with 120 or 150 pounds to the square inch remains to lc pcen, Wo incline to believe that the machine will go up as hi^li :is the inventor will find convenient.

The principle upon which Mr. Orme applies the power of his machine is easily understood. When a kite goes up the power holds the string so that the kite is against the wind. The power is attached to the lower or front side of the kite, and is applied by pulling. It is difficult to see why the kite would not go up if it was possible to hold it at the same angle, but. apply the power by pushing against the back of the kite. This lust is the principle by which the nndiino of Mr. Orme is to go up. It lias four fins or wings which arc placed at tlio nngle at which a kite would be held, and revolves like screw propellers. Two of the fans, or usrial screw propellers, revolve in one direction, and the other two in an opposite direction. All the fans press against the air on the lower sides just as the screw propellers on vessels press againnt. wtter. The fans arc driven by double gearing attached to the two engines. The first, object of this machine is simply to lift, itself tip, but the same power that used to lift the machine in the air, can be used to propel it with or against, the current of wind. We arc gratified that a IV dueah inventor has made a step in advance of other investigators of the possibility of serial navigation, and that he has opened tip a new line of experiments which many will doubtless follow.— (Ky.) A' ),/,/• kin ii, Oct. I.

WORTHY OF ATTENTION.

To Dr. Thomas A. Hurley I hereby certify that during lat year I wai attacked with the asue whilst in ickisburjr. I Mis*., and used several popular medicines with hut temporary relief. On reaching home the diseased returned in a worso type, if possible, when my medical attendant ordered Quinine in lan?e dunes—frequently as hich as 60 grains per day. and which must have cost me nearly S100. I consulted Dr. Smith, of Louisville, and found he prescribed quinine and arsenic combined, which I refused to take, preferring to let the disease take it* course. 1 was almost bloodies*, extremely exhausted, and pronounced with enlarged Liver and Spleen. About this time, the advertisement of Hurley'? Ague Tonic, appeared in a city paper, and 1 determined to give it atrial. I did so.and have no reason to regret ir. One bottle restored me completely, and since that time seen nearly a hundred rases in which it.acted with equally happy results, nnd would certainly recommend it as preferable to any other tonic before the public.
