ONE Captain Herbert won a remarkable law suit in Adair County, [owa, the other day—a suit conducted 011 both sides of the North river. The plaiutiff and his lawyer lived 011 one side of the river, and the defendant, his lawyer and tho magistrate on the the other. The parties met ou either bank of the swollen stroaiu. The "court" took his seat on a damp log, and for one hour and a half the attorneys slung law and logic across a 100 feet of September freshet, at the expi ration of which period the court mounted a stump and hurled his decision across tlio stream.
INDIANA achievc-d a magnificont victory ut the Kentucky State Fair, held at Louisville week before last, enpturiug four money prizes out of five, and two coniplein ?ntury premiums ou best plonji exhibited. Tlie money prizes were taken on best sod, best stubble, best one-horse, and best three-shovel plows. The premiums were for best double-shovel and the best display of plows. These plows were all from the Premium Steel Plow Works of S. Homey & Co., Richmond, Indiana, and Trere placed ou exhibition by J. G. Stiltz, the well known agricultural implement dealer of this city. The premiums were taken against competition from Ohio, St. Louis, Illinota and Kentucky manufacturers—a Louisville firm taking the only other prize offered— a tact that should make every Hoosier feel prond of his State and her ^•uyifacturers.—Tml.
