IIK OI:XTV \lit.—Tlie Annual Fair of ,fhc Montgomery County Agricultural Society commences on the 4th of October.
From the extensive preparations which are being made, we are of opinion that this will be the most attractive ever held in this County. We are glad to observe that an unusual degree of interest is being taken in this institution bv lhe people. This fact itself indicates the growing prosperity of our cotiniy.
It is necessary, in order to make ^FailWeek" what it. ought to be, and to make if produce tlie good results which it might produce, llitit all our citizens should exert themselves." •'l.ef'the,-tradesmen of the city, the professional man, flic artisan and the laborer join with the farming classes in the effort to make Montgomery County Fair one of the Institutions of the State. Situated ns we are, with our immense agricultural and mineral resources, with a reputation of being the best stock-producing county in the Stale, and with the splendid railroad facilities we are almost in possession of, this county Fair can be made an affair to be looked forward to, as a week of solid enjoyment for people of every occupation in life. There are perhaps but three professions or occupations which can not "enter" into competition for a premium. The minister may not be atile to exhibit his particular path lo eternal bliss and take a red ribbon "on it 110 prize perhaps may be offered to the shrewd attorney for the display of the ••leanest client's pockct book and the surgeon perhaps will iiot be" called upon to exhibit his skill in cutting, carving and burning. Hut these can well afford, and ought 10 allow themselves this week of rest and relaxation (if possible) from their labors. They certainly need some interval of this kind. And while all enjoy the "Fair week." political animosities will be forgotion sectarian intolerance will be laid aside good fellowship and harmony will prevail everybody's sister, father and mother, brother, cousin's haltVstep-bT(itfier-in-law will come lo make a visit.'and all will have a week to lie remembered.

He visited this place every- month as well as all the adjoining County seats in 1808 and 18t4 regularly, he treated and cured a great, many cases here. He cured a cancer 011 George Fruits' wife. Jonas Hountree,. Isaac Rich, old Mrs. Wilson, of Ladoga, and William Buchanan's wife, come of which were f|iiite bad.
The Doctor hns proved himself to be a man of science and skill, and generally too well known to need recommending, and any person calling him a quack would be laughed at. The Doctor's first ten years were spent in treating diseases generally ten in traveling over the greater p(irt. of the United Slates, always making a

vi WORTHY OF ATTENTION.
To Dr. Thomas A. Ilnrley I hereby cortify that during lau year I wan attackcd with the ague whilst in lckisburg, MKJ.. and used sovorai popular mnu'.cines with
bnt temporary relief. On reaching homo the diseased returned in a worse type, it possible, when my medical attendant ordcicn tjuinino in large doses—frequently as high as 60 grains per day. and which must have cost me nearly 9IW. I consulted Dr. Smith, of Louisville, and ton mi he pre-scribcd tiuinine and arsenic combined, which I refused to take, prcfeiring to let the disease lake its course. 1 was almost bloodless.. extremely exhausted, and pronounced with enlargfld Liver mid Spleen. Aboutthis time, the advertisement of Hurley's Ague Tonic, appeared in a citv paper, and 1 determined to give 11 atrial. I.lid so. and have no reason to regret it. One bottlo restored mo completely, anrt since that time seen nearly a hundred owes in which it acted with equally happy results, and would certainly recommend it as preferable to any other tonic before
