Not long since the money drawer of Iamkh N olan saloon, in this city, was robbed of

some twenty-three dollars. Two young strol

ling thieves, who lmd arrived here that dnv,

were arrested upon suspicion of having com

mitted the theft. Upon being searched by the

marshal, the larger part of the money was

found concealed in thu waistband of the punts

worn by one of them, who gave his name as

John Vctich, and the rest of the mowy was

well accounted for by finding where they had

expended it. They were examined before the

Mayor, nnd committed to answer life charge

nt the higher court. At the present term of

the Common l'leas, Voach had his trial, in

From the Lafayette papers we learn that

these "till,' thieves arrived in that city, ami

upon the day of their arrival there, began to

ply their vocation by robbing a money draw-

of seventy-five dollars. They were arrested

there for that otfeuse, had their examination

before the Mayor of that city, and upon pre"

cisely such testimony as was adduced against

them on their examination here, were, by the

Mayor of Lafayette, committed in default of

three hundred dollars each. There cannot ho

the least doubt as to their being.traveling pro

fessional "till" thieves, and it is to be hoped

that the Tippecanoe Criminal Court will do

their duty by furnishing these young thieves

work for the State, long enough to learn them

some of the beauties of honest labor.
