The news was that L. A. FOOTE A Cl). had just received alargc lot of New Goods,making theirstock fuller and more complete than it had ever been, and the beststock in their line ever in the city of Crawfordsville.

lie passed where hangs the sign o'er head "Nofarthergo," a young man said. "You'll find no better far or wide"—

Aud loud thatsaxe-horn voice replied: '•GOOD NEWS!"

For the information of the public, wc would say that the sign referred to is that of the' okkkh ook Stoke,"(you can see itfrom either Green or Vornon streets,) and the young man who stopped the traveler was John R. Robinson, Jr.. who has been in the establishment a year, and being well posted in the business, know what he was talking about when he told the gentleman with the banner to stop. If you doubt, call and ask him.

And now he stands within the dour, Where goods are found from wall to floor And with a smile and wink of eye. lie says in accents clear and high. •1 SKK NKW GOODS!"

The farmer was astonished for he could see no one, and so lie brought out his dugs for a hunt, and had the mystery explained as follows:-i

The fact is that ho had got too many articles for his money and was not able to "tote" them home, and so got into the above unfortunate predicament.

I fear the youth who bravely bore The Excelsior flag in days of yoro, The "Corner Book Store" had not'found Or ho might now be singing round— "GOOD NEWS!"

The rensou we have for this belief is. that if he had found the 'Corner" he would have bought so many entertaining Books that ho would never have undertaken that journey, hut have stayed at home and made a quiet citizen.
