Ma. Kinion—Passing along Main street, in front of the Court House, a few nights since, 1 was informed that a radical, negro suffrage disunion meeting was being held in the-build-ing. Having a curiosity to hear what„was said, I stepped in. The meeting was being addressed bv a young limb of the law in ou city, A Mr. JOHN BCTLKK. The speaker was I making a desperate effort lo prove to his audiencethat it would be cruelly wrong to tax the wealth of i1»»» .»oo»»»»«^' !*«..»• »l.« ui,pp/x»i the (loverument, that the bond holder should be allowed to live in luxurious ease without paying one cent oa his hoarded fortune in the shape of (iovcrnmenl Ihmds, while the poor man. the hard toiling laborer and mechanic, must have wrung from his hard earnings a third of his daily pittance to pay interest on the enormous national debt of the country.

This was the sum and substance of his argument made in such a bungling manner that no one could fail to see that the speaker was money but a poor ad"pt in the art of political trickcry. His misrepresentations were but the sayings of older heat's in deception i*.nd detnagogtiery, and while they might have influenced the ignorant, prejudiced partisan, could not but fail to make the honest, intelligent voter more firm in his convictions of the justice of e»pial taxation *tV A MKCHAN1C.
