OBITUARY.

ABRAHAM K. MILLER whose death occurrcd on Wednesday the 2d of May, 186(5, was one of the veritable pioneers of tho Great West. He was a steadfast Democrat through life and loved and honored Andrew Jackson. In his younger days he was deprived of the advantages of an education, yet he was a self made man and understood thoroughly the principles of a republican government and the political history of his country. In early days he was a great hunter and loved his rifle and hounds passionately, lie was a man of powerful strength and constitution—a good husband and futher—a hard working man ho felled the forrest before h-im. He was proverbially honest and benevolent and withal religious, yet his religion was not sectarian but composite. lie was bom in Virginia, October 12thr 1784, where he lived in his father's house until he was eight years old when he removeij^ith his parents to Kentucky. On obtaining his majority he married Miss ELKTABETH E.NDICOTT, January 17, 1809, and so became husband and father.1 He lived to number eighty-one years, six months and twenty days, and departed this life May 2d. 1S0G.

CORPORATION ELECTION.—It nscd to be saiJ, as goes Brookvillc, so goes the Stsitc—so may it be.

The Democratic ticket was elected by a majority of fifty, completely routing the disunionists. The assessor of the district for internal revenue, with all the Government officials, worked hard but they could not come it. The people have determined to stand by the President in his endeavors to have all the States represented in Congress, and the disunionists may as well come down. We admit we had two advantages over the disunionists: first we had the better and more just cause second, we had better men on our ticket.—Franklin Democrat.
